thinking about purchasing a bubba rope 1 1/4" thick. Just curious if anyone can tell me where to attach it to the stuck vehicle and the reaching vehicle? Anyone know any links to videos or just to spit some knowledge would be awesome. Thanks guys?

Factor 55 has some awesome stuff. I don't have a winch but I just bought the hitchlink 2.0 and some d rings. You could get a Gator Jaws also.HitchLink-2_0-red-680x510.jpg

I use a recovery strap. Just pull your hitch pin, pass the loop of the recovery strap into the receiver, and reinstall the hitch pin through the loop. Do not, under any circumstances wrap a rope, chain or recovery strap around a hitch ball.

I use a Ditch pig rope with a flat hitch and a clevis/ shackle for the back. Usually have better luck pulling from the front as the engine weight gives a big advantage.

I would not recommend that at all.

Your front diff gears are the weakest in reverse since it is a high pinion and you are using the coast side of the ring gear. The front diffs have enough problems as is, I wouldn't add to it.

We carry a number of recovery options. Our Wheeler's Recovery Straps are Made in USA, are higher rated than many similar competitors straps and come with a cordura slider for times when you may be forced to pull against a rock or tree. [IMG]

I read some reports of guys bending their hitch pin that way. Well, at least that was the story I told my wife to get one of these, haha.

Yep, seen that happen. If you have a torch, not a big issue. I will say this, you do it once, you will not do it again after that.

If you would have a low pinion diff, like on a 1 ton Chevy from 85' or older, pulling in reverse is actually better. The same holds true for the rear axle. This is why they are low pinion for strength. The guys I know that do custom rear high pinion axles usually get pretty good at replacing gear sets or have empty wallets.

The front drivers side needle bearing that acts as a guild for the axle shaft is shit. Good thing is you can replace it with an East Coast Gear Supply bushing and not worry about it again. The tools and parts are about 185.00 and a few hours of your time (depending on your wrenching capabilities). Toyota recommended I install one in mine, but would not do it under warranty, or warranty the work. My truck was under warranty, so I told them to get F'd and replace the 2400.00 front diff since I knew the truck was going to be sold anyway. Cost me 50.00.

Yep, and 4Runners. It wouldn't stop me from buying a Tundra again. It will happen to my 14 Tacoma as well. When it does, I get some new tools. :D

That's the size I've been looking at... What length is most typical, regardless of style. 20'? Is 30' too much?

The ropes stretch 30-40% of their total length. Most people generally go with the 30' ropes for the 7/8" but it will all depend on where and how you are going to be using it.

Cant do that with a regular strap without causing damage or breaking the strap. Bubba rope is unique in its use of kinetic energy with stretching so much.

I'm thinking about picking up some recovery gear with the Black Friday specials. I'm thinking Factor 55 hitchlink 2.0, a couple Gator Jaws, and a Bubba Rope (can't decide on 7/8" or 1 1/4" and 20' vs 30'). I don't plan on doing any crazy offroading, but I would like to be prepared when taking the family in to the great outdoors. Any better products than these options? Thoughts on exact Bubba Rope?

Spartan rope is also a good kinetic rope to consider. 1 1/4” is what I would recommend. might be overkill but i’d Rather have the extra just in case. Not sure if they got any BF deals going.

I have a 30’ Smittybilt snatch strap. Unstretched it’s 18’ I believe. But it packs pretty well. I think it was 2 3/8”.Smittybilt also has a kinetic rope as well. I’m sure 4wp will have that in stock.

If you do get one I also recommend getting an anchor or damper to weigh down the rope in the middle just in case.
