What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

That sounds like a good idea, but I think I'll wait for a while before pulling the lower dash again. I need to rest my spine, and feet for a while.

 

At least I got this on I guess. So it can finally tow legally. Not bad for 40 bucks. Plug and play with 7 and 4 way

I used an LED on mine that had the diode on the top. I noticed when my (too long) bulb was right up on the plastic front that the light was more yellow, thus why I backed it off and taped the assy insert with Gorilla Tape. This let the white light shine onto the clear ring better.

Your diodes are located on the sides and maybe reflecting the yellow housing plastic onto the clear ring.

I reckon if nothing else, I can use the lenses. That's really all I want to replace anyway. When ol' DJT's CV checks shows up, I may have to order someheadlights...and tires for the p-car...and Tundra bits...and go out to eat at a restaurant...

 

Been saving up all my different SS#’s acquired over the years for just such an occasion. Might be able to fully retire at this point.

I have a 6112/5160 setup with 6112s set at max heigh recommendations for a DC and got about 2 inches in the front I believe. I also have a Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL in the rear with my overload in and got around 1-1.5 with a cap. If I add any armor, and I'm considering it for sure, I will go with Wheelers 700 lb springs up front (6112s for our trucks come with 650s) and an Archive Garage leaf pack if the first couple reviews are good...

Right now I'm running 255/85r17s on TRD Sema wheels (17x7 +4mm offset) which is the same as 255/85r16s with no issues.

One of these days after a thorough rest period I'll fix it CORRECTLY.

Maybe I should have waited for nightfall for reassembling so I could see.

I've definitely got some more tinkering to do.

 

What's really driving the upgrade? Is it just height? I feel like the lift from the 5100's are going to be very similar to the 6112's. Not sure it would be a worthy upgrade. What setting are you on currently?

Now, if your 5100's are at the end of their life cycle, then I could see upgrading. Just want to make sure we as a community provide the "right" feedback

For the rubbing, this will depend the offset of the wheels. When I was at 2.5" spacer lift, I rubbed on the frame a little with 34"s but my wheels were 17x9 -12 offset.

 

Helped out a teacher today hauling goods out of the skooll for for really small people. The skooll is closing for the year. Dereks Center will be overwhelmed.

 

Deaver's are custom so you can spec whatever lift you want. No need for the AAL.

 

They need to bring this back in ALL vehicles. Nothing like a perfectly placed vent for AC and heater.

 

Decided to get this thing clean and hopefully retract better. Was it @Professional Hand Model that said to spray with silicone both sides after it dries?

Speedtre: Thanks for the info, Ill definitely be checking those bilsteins as well. I also have the Wheelers Progressive AAL, but without my overload. Im interested in that Archive Garage leaf pack now too. Ill have to keep an eye on reviews as well.

ImDemented: The main reason for the upgrade is just that, an upgrade. I just love my truck and if i can make it more capable offroad with possibly better shocks and more ground clearance then I kinda wanna try something different than what I have now. I plan on keeping the truck forever and I just threw on some 5100s to hold me over until I felt like I wanted to upgrade and now Im just getting some input from guys like you and seeing what else is out there.

I'm not sure if it's my imagination or not but my truck seems to have a little extra pep in her step now. Maybe she's pleased to finally get the attention she so rightfully deserves? It probably is my imagination unless I removed pounds of packed dirt, which maybe I did?

 

I put my bucket on top of a milk crate in the front seat to get better soakage of the belt.
After the silicone spray dries......I would wear safety glasses so you don’t get hit in the eye, it flys back into its home!!!

 

I forgot to add in my long cleaning story, but I soaked mine too, and then pressure washed as much as possible without removing from cab. Next step is silicone spray.


Already a world of difference.

 

I was going to do that but a lot of the dirtiness starts at the bottom anchor point so putting the bucket on the seat would have soaked less of that part. I’ll let it dry tonight and spray with silicone on both sides in the AM.

 

I didn’t care much how dirty the lower portion of the belt was, as that’s not what passes thru the upper that slows everything down, I mainly focused on the upper most, since that’s what sees all the action. I did use a brush soaked in simple green on the lower part though

 

I soaked and cleaned my belt with a sponge and rag with some degreaser mixed in water, then wiped the belt down with a wet water rag, and then dried it with a towel as best as possible.

Let things air dry a day or two and really soaked the belt with Silicone Blaster with Teflon. The magic happens once that dries. You can double down a few weeks later on another dousing. The Silicone/Teflon helps keep the belt clean and slippery.

 

Make it too clean & slippery & you'll submarine right under & out of it in an emergency stop.

 

Yeah, I understand that its not actually a thing but I just kinda made it my thing. So do I put the resistors on both sets of lights?

 

Painted the side moldings and they came out pretty good. Just need to see them in the light to know for sure.
