Go to hell! Exactly what, and I mean WHAT risk am I exposing to anyone? We are driving to the coast tomorrow by ourselves in an enclosed vehicle and enjoying ourselves and risking NOTHING WHATSOEVER to ourselves and others.

    Eff you!

I think it stems from every level of health and safety and government, telling people they need to STAY HOME unless necessary.

Because Joe Schmoe sees you doing it, then he does it, then the next dummy does it and they have to close down entire forests and state parks.

It's one thing to go for a drive and another to get out and walk the beach. I don't know what your plans are and don't really care. But I'm hoping it's just a drive.

They are closing down freaking dog parks here because of the idiots not keeping distance from each other.

Just stay home unless you need to.

    Purely to stir the pot...

If a person lives in the city, are they allowed to stand on their deck for some fresh air? In what way is that any better than someone heading out to the wilderness?

    Dan,

    You're wrong.
If you want to have a respectful discussion I'll gladly do so through direct messaging. I'm not trying to personally attack you or anyone else. It is just sad to me that so few people seem to get it. I will not entertain anymore discussion about it here in this thread.

Nice bro! Enjoy just stay away from people. I think we saw a truck like at least miles away from us but thats it. TBH I think it is way more dangerous to have food deliver or going to target. We are well stocked up for 5 months. I miss those fresh fruits though.

Honestly it comes down to potential exposure however slight and the increase of the possibility of utilizing resources that are strained. Whether it’s someone who went on a hike and injured themselves or got into a car accident. Not saying there is a huge chance either of those will happen, but leaving your home to do non essential things increases the chances of those things happening /however slight the increase in possibility/.

now take you and times that by the whole nation and the chances of resources being used up for tiny stuff has multiplied. I’d really rather not end up like Italy and I’d take any help we can get.

Currently the USNS Mercy is in LA right now.. just so they can take non covid patients for treatment without exposing them to covid patients at the hospitals. That’s what it has come down to. And maybe your state/area isn’t impacted but that’s what this country said in Jan/Feb when we were all looking at China and look at how fast it progressed here.

If you do get corona, it’s a dice roll in whether you’ll feel like you’re drowning when you’re just trying to get out of bed. and when resources become strained, I wouldn’t want to be in the position where someone has to decide whether they have to save a ventilator for me or a 7 YO or a 50 YO

Sounds similar to how the BFG KO2 tires did for me on my previous truck. They were great, except in the wet. Thought about going with them again, but the balancing issues are something I don't want to deal with.

I can understand where both sides are coming from on this. I get the desire for public safety, and that we should all behave responsibly. That being said, we are a nation founded on freedom, and freedom is messy.

It requires personal responsibility and there is also an inherent risk that comes with freedom. Some one might use their agency to do something dangerous, bad, or irresponsible. That in turn may have an affect on innocent people. That is part of the "cost" of being free. It's true that just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should, but it is your freedom and you can do with it as you choose. Remember that there are ripple effects that may reach beyond yourself or those you know. Use your freedom responsibly and we will all be happier.

This isn't an endorsement for those who are advocating forcing people to do what they think is right or proper. That's the road to bad things. Many terrible wrongs have been committed in the name of "the greater good" or for public safety, and I'll take messy freedom over safe tyranny any day.

I personally don't have any problem with people going out into the wilds to maintain sanity, but I hope they think on it and do so responsibly.

That's what our work trucks run (not that big) and they are an all around great tire. They are pricey though.

Different state governments have issued different levels of guidance / orders on what they recommend / require. Some states have 'shelter in place' while others recommend 'social distancing'. We're not all subject to California's standards / requirements (thankfully).

My “opinion” is just that because if you throw in “what if’s” to anything you can justify your opinion. My wife and and live in a rural area which happens to be Lincoln county and we are fortunate enough to still only have 1 confirmed case and -0- deaths. That being said we finished our outdoor chores and took an hour long drive through the countryside both Friday and Saturday. It was nice to get out roll the windows down and enjoy the fresh air. You could could throw in a “what if” you were involved in an accident and 1st responders had to come out and I could say “what if “ I went to grocery store and I picked up an item that someone unknowingly affected just touched.

I say Be Smart, follow the laws pertaining to your area and support each other. The President said we will ultimately have rolling quarantines ie ones that only affect the hotspots and everyone else can start easing back into somewhat of a normalcy. Just my opinion

One more item on original post, wife and I have been looking for 25 to 50 acres up in the mountains for some time and just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Not as preppers but just a compound that is away from everyone that is somewhat self sustaining and if we had it in place I am not sure if we would stay here till this is over or be there. If you aren’t in New York or a hotspot with directives to stay in place and want to bug out, stay to yourself and rock on.

No one outside my family will come on my deck (not desk either though).

Again, people are idiots. I can go to fhe dog park and stay 6' from people but they don't seem to be able to keep 6' from me or the other people they pass or want to talk etc.

I can only imagine how many people are heading to to the mountains and coming in close contact with complete strangers and face to face taking with them while hiking. If they are within 6' of someone, they see clearly not concerned with the global pandemic and think it won't harm them. That worries me a lot because they have complete disregard for safety recommendations and guidelines.

Morons here in CO are piling hundreds of cars deep to back country ski because the slopes are shut down. They pile into strangers vehicles to get lifts to the top. The stupidity of the human race is mind blowing to me.
I have been going to work only and my wife gets groceries once a week.
Today I’m going to spend my day on my driveway detailing my Tundra. I need some fresh air.

    Amen to this!

I had to go to the Grocery yesterday and all I know for sure is that almost no one seemed focused on maintaining distance that I came across.

    WT actual F ?!?!?

    Know what I mean?

They had built tiny plastic dividers since I was there last to give cashiers a little direct protection from those who Say it AND Spray it as a normal thing and I saw cashiers peering around those barriers to make it easier to communicate I guess but again is there just no common sense at all?

I have not started into any of my long term supplies really at all yet but I am giving it some thought as opposed to going through that again.

You can only control yourself, be safe and make the best of this time. I hope you are blessed and not one of the millions who have lost their jobs and the worry is how to pay for food and rent and not whether someone violated their space at the dog park.

To be clear, I am worried about them.

Because as it stands, we can go out to get necessities and grocery's or prescriptions. I worry that stupid moron who can't keep 6' from me in a giant football sized field, is going to be at the grocery store at the same time as me. Or worse, come in contact with one of my elderly parents.

These are the idiots who they need to lock up and/or fine for violation of the terms.

That’s a scary statement there, it sounds like you are condoning the use of National Guard and Marshal law. That my friend is something you may want to ponder awhile.

Nope. It is being implement by fines here starting Monday, it's not my idea. It's also only a matter of time, I give it hours or a day, before someone mouths odd to the officer who is giving them a fine or spits on them and they are locked up.

    https://globalnews.ca/news/6715071/alberta-social-distancing-rules-enforcement/

“There’s also power being provided to the police to deal with, through fines I believe, people that might not be following the recommendations.”

Canadians don’t have 2nd amendment rights. The approach has to be much different here in the way it is handled.
