The past three days or so, I noticed a different noise emanating from the dash. Not the usual bells and chimes, this was definitely a new one and a high pitch. Didn't think much of it until this morning, went to start the truck and dead battery. And this whine or chime, wouldn't stop. Even after taking out the key and closing the door. The battery took a jump, but I didn't trust it, so I picked up a new battery and that did it. No more odd sound after starting. I think that has to be some kind of early warning chime/whine to warn about a dying battery. Anyone else experience this?

Sounds like alternator whine trying to charge the battery.

Actually, whine was the wrong word to describe it. It sounded like another one of the chimes that go off when you start up the car. Except this one was a very high pitch and it lasted for about two seconds after the others stopped. Its not there anymore with the new battery.
