My family and I are leaving this afternoon to go camping all this weekend. I was curious if anyone else is doing this during this covid-19 devastating times we are in? I feel kinda both sides about leaving amd camping although our DNR here are encouraging it. What do you all think.

Kind of depends where your going. Some States like Washington, New York and California are probably not the likely places. But I guess it depends if your more secluded or if your going camping in a mobile home set up with a bunch of people.

We are in NY, central part of the state and not near NYC, but all the state parks and campgrounds are closed for camping. Our reservations in April were already cancelled by the state. I wouldn’t have any qualms about camping now, but understand that sacrifices need to be made to try and prevent things from getting much worse.

    Park camping, no.

Adventure camping, unstructured, family only, off the grid, yes.

We have July booked at some Provincial parks and don't even know if it'll be open then or our employers will allow us to cross borders or even time off.

I guess it'll depend on how bad it is by then....not how much better it is. :(

State, federal and DNR parks are closed here in WA. I think if you can get to some place that is remote and away from crowds, go for it.

Our state park is where we are going. We are always camping alone even when this is not going on. The camp sites are a good distance apart so we wont be next to anyone close. Just getting the kids out of the house and on a walk would be really good for us. My sons is high functioning autistic so this is really hard for him not doing anything at all. Although its raining here this morning I think it will be a good thing for us. Thanks everyone for the opinions! I have mixed feelings going but its not like we are breaking any laws right now.

Then go for it and have fun

Our parks are closed so it would against the law to camp out of season and for Covid reasons.

Since we have no idea where you are it is tough to advise about that for sure but as long as you are not contributing to the problems in any way then why not go?

I hear that about the rest rooms in Indiana parks for sure!

Which one if it does not compromise OPSEC for the trip?
I camp in Indiana myself several times a year!

All state park are open to camping threw the website. No one is working check in DNR is saying they will be patrolling to make sure people are where they should be. We are going to hike and possibly do some fishing

Do it. If it’s for the sanity and safety of your family in mind, 100%
I took the boy out last weekend on a 4-5 hour trail out of town, it was great to only think of what’s in front of you, not where you came from. Maybe take some nature projects with you, or teach them how to read a compass and measure their paces; do a mini scavenger hunt.

We have a reservation at a CG on the beach in NC the week before Easter.
Not sure 100 % if we're still going.

    Sounds like a good time.
Might consider restocking your house on the food & supplies you take camping?
Hard to say but if things get worse while you're gone it'd be nice to come back to a fully stocked house.
    Enjoy!

I’ll be taking the family off the grid camping once it warms up enough here in Alberta. Get away from the news, Facebook and technology for a few days! Can’t wait!

Va has closed all state park camping through the end of April. There may be private owned camp areas open....but no camping in any State Parks!

Well if our campsites weren’t under 10 feet of snow right now we would definitely be camping. Don’t use campgrounds and I don’t believe the NF will close around here 1A58EB34-C8C3-47E0-AB57-86E946F19B40.jpg

We're right there with you brother!

I've been teleworking the last couple of weeks and, to be honest, not my thing. Don't mind being a homebody most of the time but this is starting to get on my nerves.

Soooooo, next week they're forecasting low 80's here and the wife and I are going to drag the boat to the lake. Campgrounds are closed for the most part but the ramps and parking are open. While we're floating around the lake doing nothing I'll hotspot the phone and pretend I'm working. Should be a good recharge for the mind.
