Going to look at a used 2017 Tundra 1794 Edition on Saturday and hope to bring her home. I've had several Toyota cars over the years, but this will be my first Tundra.

If anyone has any suggestions on anything specific I should look for or watch out for when I go see this truck, it will be appreciated. Stay tuned!

Not yet. My future SIL works at the dealership where truck was traded in and he alerted me to it. Truck has gone through shop to be checked out, but hasn't made it out on the lot yet. Hope to check it out before someone else sees it ;)

I would be there the first day it's on the lot if the SIL thinks it's a good truck. I was on the way (3 hour trip) to look/buy a tundra and it sold when I was about an hour out. Was real mad, but my local Toyota dealer got a 2016 Pro in a week later or so and I was the first one there to see it the day after it was posted...and now it's mine!

Yeah, it helps have a direct contact at the dealership for sure.

If it looks like it is going to roll out on the lot, I'll be putting down a refundable deposit to hold it until I can get there, which looks like it's going to be a couple of days. I'll let folks know if she comes home with me :)

My only concern is the leather interior. I am a big outdoorsman and have never had a truck with leather. Probably end up getting some seat covers for it, but it is what it is, if I get the truck it will have leather interior. Other folks probably think I am crazy, but I just prefer the cloth over leather.

Can’t speak for the leather in the 1794s but from my experience good leather is superior to cloth seats.
I used to prefer cloth seats as well. Until I experienced katzkin leather seats. Water, dirt, mud, etc. just wipes right off and you don’t have to worry about stains or cloth potentially smelling over time.

I agree with you on that. Leather is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I don't get the big leather craze, but I guess we all have our own tastes and preferences. It is easier to keep clean though, I will admit that. The only problem with the 1794 leather is the suede accents. Although it looks really good it tends to show wear before the smooth leather.

Good luck on the potential rig.
What are the specs on the truck? Miles, maintenance, carfax, etc..
Look for cam tower leaks, that's the only "major" issue that would sway me if it's out of the 60k warranty.

Welcome from UT. Like @NWPirate said, check for the cam tower leak. You might have to pull the dust cover off in the wheel well to get a good look. Also check the battery. If its original you may have to replace it sooner than later. Some of the newer trucks batteries are only lasting 2-3 years. The older ones last 5-7, my '14 still has it's original battery, I am looking to replace it soon.

Mileage is a little over 35K so I should have factory warranty for a little while. Carfax info looks good with no major repairs. Has there been a recall on the Cam Tower leak?

I'll have to Google that "Cam Tower Leak" and see what that is. I'm pretty mechanically minded and do a lot of work myself on my vehicles, but some things I have to let others handle. Thanks for the heads up

No problem, it's tough to see until you know what you're looking for. There's plenty of pictures on this forum. Looking through both wheel wells at your engine just above the exhaust manifolds, it's a grey sealant that leaks on a lot of trucks. Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of.
Post some pics when you can

No recall that I know of, some people are getting Toyota to cover part or all of the repair out of warranty.
My 2017 had the leak when I bought it with 14k miles on it, both sides were resealed under warranty.
    Bone dry since the fix

That was going to be my next question, is the "fix" good enough to permanently eliminate the problem from re-occurring?

I'm sure a quick search on here would get me my answer, but for those who have had this problem while the truck was still under factory warranty, did the dealership fix it under warranty?

I do appreciate all the input I've received so far. Going to look at the truck tomorrow. :fingerscrossed:

Brother works in the oil field.. Told him those 1794 seats are to damn nice for that kinda work! He ignored me and 2 years later they are still in excellent condition.

The fix is a black sealant the tech applies by hand, the common thought is the factory robots have been applying the grey sealant too thin for many years.
It's beyond me why they can't slow the robot down a touch so it lays down a thicker bead. o_O
