Any time someone says "First world problems"

I always ask "What other problems would I have?"

I contacted him. Hopefully he can do the same for my two cars.

I modified the wiring on mine so that its only on with ignition. It is really straight forward. Pull the harness off the mirror, take out the sunglasses/light thing so you can get to the harness in the headliner area. Using multimeter, determine which wire is 12+ all the time and which one is switched with the ignition. Cut the one that is always hot (and insulate the end), and splice the mirror side of that wire onto the one that is switched. Now your mirror will only work when the ignition is on.

I did this on my 07 Tacoma, then on my 07 Tundra, and my 16 Tundra.

The pins on this connector are pretty small, so you can use a small safety pin to plug in there and then the fat end sticking out is easy to hit with the meter. Don't even bother trying to look up what your wire colors are. There were tons of different models.... just way faster to put the meter on it.

I'd bet almost anything that any harness adapter that anyone is selling, does what I described above.

I just did this! It's the perfect fix and 1 1/2 bananas on a scale of five. My hat's off to #dumbassdave for his post! I posted a couple pictures in a new thread dedicated to the fix and make it a little easier for people to see exactly what needs done:

I finally bought the adapter mentioned. Install was super easy, took 5 minutes. Now my Homelink only operates if the truck is on (no aux). Thanks @k9shag for the link to http://www.bobsmirrors.com

How much was it? Just curious, as my wife's Subaru has way too many safety sensor eyeball things up in the headliner for me to want to pull it down to rewire.
