    De-flared
4x4 labs makes a phenomenal product and I have seen dozens of the bumpers on Land Cruisers. From what I have seen on IH8MUD, Luke stands behind his product. Powder coating as an issue for some in the past but what would one expect from a product that sees frequent impacts with rocks and other immovable objects...rattle can for me if I ever go this route.

Yeah, I'm really kind of wanting one in white.

So, uh.. Wondering who's going to update this thread with new armor or do we need to start a new one?

I'm really tempted to grab an oil pan skid, but the shipping is almost half the cost of the plate itself.

Yeah it sucks but you can't really blame them. I tried to ship my 7lb bed extender last year and it was going to cost almost $100 because of the box size...

I definitely get it and really appreciate the heads up but like everyone else right now, I'm trying not to spend on non-essential items until the volatility of our economy goes down.

Yeah. I get it too. It just puts the pricing outside my splurge zone for something I don't necessarily need.

I was spoiled with the discount and free shipping I got for the front skid.

Thanks for sharing. If I were 4x4labs I would have advertised that here otherwise we may have never know. I like how this one is light weight.

Yeah like most small fab shops they're not too great at advertising. They are a little more active on ih8mud with the land cruiser stuff and post here and there on IG. That's how I learned they were making 1st gen Tundra armor. I think most of their advertising comes from word of mouth. When it comes to 80 series Land Cruisers they're basically the defacto brand for front and rear bumpers, them and Slee. I've visited their shop before and they have a great operation going. They're located right outside Sacramento and their armor is essentially built to run the Rubicon. When I ordered my rear bumper from them they gave me a 6-8 week time line and it came right at 7 weeks. So lead times for me were at least accurate. Even post purchase customer service is great, I've emailed Luke a few times and he always replies and most times I call someone will always answer that day.

Funny thing was that with my 4R I actually wanted the Brute Force Fab rear bumper. Called Billy's shop multiple times, left a few VM's, messaged on IG, and sent email inquiries and never ever got a reply. At the end of the day it didn't seem like they wanted my money so I went with a company that actually wanted to take my order lol.

Yes that is a common experience with BFF. The only way I was able to order my front bumper from Billy is because he has a friend here who will take your order.

Somehow.. I managed to bust what I'm guessing is a welded nut on the inside of the frame. Now that bolt you see there floats up and down freely and can't be removed. I'm not sure how to fix that one.

Bummer. I’ve never removed my front bumper before, but can imagine doing that and sticking a long wrench down the frame to capture and hold the ‘loose’ nut while turning the lower pictured bolt.

Here is a quote from my build thread with pictures. Looks like two square nuts, and if memory serves they were at least 8 inches deep.

Thanks, man. I haven't tried tackling that one yet. Got a feeling it might be a grinder job.

Do you know if the “skid plate” PT212-34060 fits in between?
