    I have one. I got a kit from James Randy. The install went well and it's a big improvement from the stock jbl head unit. I first installed the halo9 and that 'woke up' the stock speakers. I then bought a new amp, speaker, sub kit, and sound proofing from Jame Randy and now the truck is sublime. I also installed an Amazon fire stick so my wife can watch her shows on long drives. The resolution is not what I would expect for a premium priced head unit, but the large screen is awesome with Android Auto. I hope this helps.

    how is the android auto experience compared to the Tesla 12.1" Phenix head units? That one had me pulling my hair out for weeks. To many bugs and random pop ups.

    i've had zero issues with Android Auto and the halo9. Works great!

    I have one mainly for the audio quality. It is a great unit, there's some room for improvement, but overall a fantastic HU.
    Pros:
    Alpine quality fit and finish, looks like it belonged in the truck from the start.
    Audio quality is excellent, with very flexible DSP/TC/EQ for tuning.
    Features suited all my important needs.

    Cons:
    1 usb input... WTF
    1 HDMI input... Again WTF
    No on-screen control for DVD player (remote only).
    Wired Android auto

    So if you're using Android auto (1usb), and have the Alpine DVD player to (using 1hdmi)
    You have no inputs for fire sticks or a alternate usb functions (I have a ridiculous library of lossless Flac music on usb keys).

    Overall, I do enjoy the Halo, and would recommend. There is a Halo 11 too FYI.

    I ran an HDMI cable from the back of the Halo9 under the panel of the shifter into the center console. I bought a HDMI plug installed that in the center console connected that to the HDMI cable and plugged in the fire stick.

    Here is the HDMI cable I used.

    I like this unit but I have rear headrest monitors. Do you know if there a is video out in this unit to play the video in the rear monitors.

    What is lost from the steering wheel controls? Any delay? What about controls that are outside of the audio system, are they still available?

    yes, my wife can watch while we are driving. In the kit I bought, Jame Randy wired in a brake bypass which allows you to watch the HDMI port as while make changes to the settings while in Drive vs park with the e brake on.

    I installed my Halo 9 last year, and at first I didn't like it due to limitations others mentioned (1 USB, wired Android Auto, etc.), but it has grown on me. Initially I had issues with bluetooth audio, nut I made some changes on my phone and it fixed a few issues. I upgraded to a new phone, and other issues with connectivity resolved as well.

    The head unit alone will not give you better sound (at least not in my case), so I installed new speakers and amps. Overall, I am now pleased with the head unit.
