I am confused. The thread title says "Virginia . . . " Then in your post, you mention OR trails. Then the map shows VA map.

edit: Just clicked. OR = off-road. I thought it was Oregon. I haven't had my cup of coffee this morning yet, haha.

Here Are the Photos from My trip this weekend.

We headed out at 0430 and got to Switzer Lake around 0900. after that we headed up the trail towards Flag Pole Knob.
(If you have Toyotas Navigation the trail is maped out all the way to the top. you can even use the Navi to get you there!)

the begging part of the trail is mostly gravel or dirt road with a plethora of camp sites along the way. and there are more once you get to the top of the Mountain. We got to FlagPole Knob around 1030-1100. from there we went in search of a camp site. found an open one pretty quick and then had camp set up and a fire build by 1400.

the really awesome thing about this trail and camp site is at the summit you have cell signal! I had LTE the entire night! It was a good thing because we came across another tundra(A Dark Red Ivan Stewart Edt.) that Snapped a Ball joint, he was able to call back into town and get some tools and parts up to the mountain.

I would NOT suggest the alternate Union Springs Road trail for the guys who don't want Scratches, dents, blemishes, etc. Had I known that this trail was that overgrown I probably wouldn't have taken my brand new truck! It's seriously TIGHT in some spots as you get higher in elevation. I drove this trail at Night, I'm glad i had my back up LED lights too, they helped keep the trail lit nicely.

Is there any chance you gentlemen will be heading back up there anytime soon? Cause I'd love to tag along. I went in early February but had to turn back due to ice after making it about 3/4 the way up.

Beautiful trails. Wish it was easier and closer for me to go hit some trails AND have people who wouldn't mind getting their trucks dirty.2016-02-10-21-58-02--823757152.jpg

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a great time to me!

Out of all the off-road truck makes, I enjoy seeing the Tundra out there the most. In my trips, I have wheeled with a couple Raptors and many Toyota types. Never seen a Power Wagon in the wild. Probably due to the trails being so tight here in CO.

Wherever up those trails. I have a front winch and a bunch of items to use of anything happens. But hopefully nothing does lol.
Saturdays or Sundays work for me. Should definitely get a group from this site to all come too.

Either Saturday or Sunday. Probably easier on Saturday.
I've got some tow cables and a shovel... and an axe. haha

I've been chatting to a group on Facebook, few of those guys might be interested?

What would be a good meet point and time?

Is flag pole stock 4x4 friendly in good weather? Will I expect some pin stripes?

Yes, definitely stock friendly. Very tight vegetation, you will pinstripe the crap out of your truck. Went up that trail once. Wouldn't recommend it if you want to keep your paint nice.

Hey, just wondering about trails that don't have tight vegetation. I pinstriped the hell out of mine on the Bald Mtn. Trail. Trouble is my Pro is 6 inches wider than a normal Pro, and trail maps don't talk about that much. Virginia definitely lacks in trails and good info about trails. The forest service maps SUCK, and I've had trouble finding good trail maps. Any insider info or resources would be appreciated.

Your going to be hard pressed to find anything legal in VA. There is a jeep trail in Edinburgh that I've been down with an ATV, it's been 7ish years ago but I think you can take a tundra down it without pinstriping your truck to badly. You do need to buy a $5 permit at a local gas station, they do patrol up there and it's a $100 fine if you get caught without one.. The lack of trail systems was one of the reasons I moved out west.
