I’m currently looking into adding ditch lights to my truck! Can anyone help me out with the last for ditch lights in California?

Illegal in California unless you have them covered while on the road.

    Worth it.

You could rig up a cover to a switch on the dash that would uncover the lights.

I don’t think you will get a ticket unless they obstruct your view from inside the cab or they are turned on.

you will absolutely get a ticket. Its $250 non-correctable.

I got one and my buddy got one.

you must have them covered. The only ones that can be uncovered are factory headlights and fog lights.

Im not here to tell you how to run your life, thats californias job. Im just saying, its possible to get a ticket.

I wish Colorado would enforce ditch lights, bro bars, and any other bright ass aftermarket LED lights that are on at night. Hell, we even have idiots running around in the broad daylight with them on.

I think it all depends on the mood the cop is in, tons of cops and CHP have seen all my lights, I've had them for 3 years with no covers and haven't gotten a ticket. I say get em.

Yeah I also speed all the time and my window tint is too dark.

We each choose our own risk level. Personally I don't see any reason to risk a ticket for lights. When I get to the trail I remove my covers. Pretty easy for me

I think geographics play a factor in it as well. Your local agency may enforce traffic harder where as mine is a little more lax. I such as most also opted for darker tint all the way around and have a heavy foot from time to time. I’m not knocking you for running them honestly if the company that made my ditch lights made covers I’d probably use them but they don’t and I don’t really feel like switching lights just to add covers. Unless Baja designs wants to hook it up with a pair of XL80s or squadron pro’s then I’d happily change. Just putting my $0.02 in I’ve had no trouble so far (knock on wood).

They are legal in California they are just supposed to be covered when driving on the road. They can be uncovered when off road.

Witnessed my friend got cited by a CHP on the 15 Cajon Pass for no covers on when I was in front of him with all of my covers on. The VC is out there for them not being overed.
