Annoyingly delayed shifts.

Anyone experience slightly delayed shifts? I think its from 3-4th, mainly when under medium hardish acceleration, the revs will hang aroind 2600-2800 rpms until i have to let off on the accelerator before it finally shifts. Basically does anyone have to slightly let off the pedal to get the transmission to shift a little earlier than it wants on medium to hard accelerations ? Shifts smooth, i think thats just the fault of only having a 4 speed in my opinion.

 

Mine is a 2000 and does something similar before it's up to normal temperature.
I'd say it's prob normal.

 

Mine has done something similar since new. It seems to shift normally once the ATF is up to temp.

True....I am of the opinion that once it's even warm, it's similar to our 2017 Highlnder or even when We had a 2000 and 2004 Highlander, I have always assisted the shift of any vehicle I have owened by feathering the throttle close to shift points if for no other reason to keep it under or close to 2000 RPM's as possible.

@BubbaW If i kept it under 2k rpms all the time i would never accelerate, for some reason my 01 4 speed non vvti v8 is kinda a slouch in the low rpms in 1st and 2nd gear

 

Check your fluid. Change it if you haven't. As others have said they hang in gear longer while cold but shouldn't feel exaggerated or sluggish.

 

(Assuming you've done normal maintenance: clean air filter, recent spark plugs.)

Have you cleaned your MAF sensor?

Guys, my 05 DC doesn't have a transmission dip stick? What the hell? I see a drain plug on the pan though. Hmm.

 

"Sealed for your own protection". Yeah, there's ways around it. I beleive there are threads about it.

 

Everybody with an A750F/E should watch this video...it shows you how to drain/fill and properly check the fluid level...it's not hard to do, but it's not simply checking a dipstick...it's much more involved.

Oh she's a 10 in the 'hood. Solid 7 elsewhere. But the fact that she could fix my mangling on vehicles makes her a 10 for me. I'd make her a sammich.

 

Yeah, in hood terms was thinking solid 9.5 so we are close. Add .5 for the anti-mangle tech skills and you got a keeper.
