As a new member, I'm a little more confused as to why everyone seems to have that picture of TJ

    No, this is @FlashCulprit

That thread is even more off topic than this one. Kinda like a football bat.

Yep, only that place now sucks ass, and why this thread is derailed. We don't need a open forum political place. Totally destroyed that site.

Ya I went to join over there just to try and find some more people that would hopefully be willing to go wheeling more often but it said I had to pay for the membership at which point I decided that it wasn't worth it. Some of the build threads are fun to read, and reading the fringe amuses me. But that's about where ends.

You don't have to pay, just have a paid email like MSN, AOL..etc. Stupid rule. Eric has let that site go to shit.

I'll have to try and make it down there some time. I think the last time I was down there was over the summer to but a topper for my 4Runner because my a-hole brother decided to put a golf ball through the one that I had... But the guy I bout the top from said that there are some nice trails down there

I'll be honest, I'm still new to it. Had my 4Runner for about 10 months now and have run a couple trails around here and it handled pretty well. It's on 32s so it doesn't really have the right clearance for everything, but i was able to take it up heart attach hill and the chutes at Kelly flats. I think at this point it's biggest flaw is its drive who is still learning

Hell that will take you 50% of the trails in CO at least. Get some 35" tires on it and you will up that to 70%.

Re-gear to 4:88/5:13 depending on what size tires you want, Longfields, research what t-case is best for you, etc. I know a guy in Colorado Springs that regears for 150.00 an axle, axles have to be out of the vehicle though. Not a huge issue.

Are you going to tow the Runner or drive? if you plan on driving, I would gear low, unless you plan on a re-power.

Eventually, I'd like to put the 7mgte that I have laying around in it but that's for a later date. The tcase for now I'm working on putting together a crawl box with another stock gear set in it for now, eventually I'd like to go with Marlins 4.7 23 spline. Also it's still ifs :/ as for towing or driving, it's yet to see a trailer (partly because I don't have one) but I'm looking in to them just incase.

Well you will not have any power issues with that motor. I will check with my brother, he has a metric assload of toyota parts. I still think he has a set of springs and SAS kit sitting in his shed from 10-12 years ago. bet he would let that go for reasonable cash. I know for a fact he had a Dual Marlin setup that was never used, he has some Bilstein CO, and a bunch of other things for toyota builds.

He used to run toyota's, but the snow bashing he does, he needs something with a little more ass. He now runs a full sized Blazer, 8.1L 4L80E 203/205 and a monster box (I think), Tuned to put out just under 500hp, D60/14B, 40" MTR...etc

He has a ton of parts and stuff. He owned an off-road business for a bit. Hell, I have sold several Atlas II transfer cases for him.

Yeah, he lives in MT and does that deep ass snow bashing. You need big tires, big horsepower, and a big shovel...lol.

I'll send him a text to see if he has any parts for sale. His whole basement is filled with tires and wheels if that tells you anything.

Funny thing, his tow rig is a 8.1L Chevy 2500. If it breaks down, he can tow it home with the trail rig. Damn thing just cruises at 75 mph.

Eh it's all good. I can't see the use of keeping it since most Yota parts don't hold up to much over 300 hp

Yeah, depending on what you're doing with the engine build, might go a different route on TC. I am an Atlas II whore myself.

I'm aiming somewhere around the stock output of the gte. Roughly 230 @ 5 psi but doing some minor flow upgrades with the intake and exhaust manifolds. The stock turbo manifold is awful. But that will put is at most 250. (Twice the hp of a 22re) Reading through some other forums, there are people that swap it Chevy 350s normally making upwards of 300 hp and run it through the Yota drivetrain fine.
