shallow shelves waste the least space. Deep shelves are just shallow shelves with crap behind them.
I recently have added a Murphy-desk styled work station to my garage. I intend to modify my other work table into one once I get my project car a bit more together. Aside from being organized and having smart storage, the best thing I can suggest for setting up your garage is to purge things you don't actually need and organize what you do. Garages can become even bigger projects than whatever we build inside of them. My 68" Epiq was a gut-wrenching purchase. But I got it used from the S-O guy, so I got a 'deal' on it. The only problem with a box that big and that nice is that I just can't justify downsizing for any reason. *I am no longer a tech, so I have that Yugo-sized monster in my garage and it prevents me from pulling the Tundra inside to work on it.

 

Yea.. if I ever switch careers the monster I have will eat up some space.. triple bay TUV (the one with golf cart wheels)

home is a Matco double and triple with a drop top.

 

I customized my small one car garage into a 3 use area: Relaxation, workout room, and chillaxation for meditations. Custom shelving for small quickly accessed items down low with storage shelves in larger boxes up high and organized into use groups.

I have two nice comfortable chairs, carpet, a large TV on the wall, and tool boxes that can get in the way to put a vehicle inside is on wheels to move accordingly. Usually, I can just pull the truck in the garage halfway on bad days and utilize a three point pivot space triangle between tool box, bench, and engine.

Moving some items strategically will allow a vehicle to be stored if needed, but useable space is severely restricted in that capacity.

 

I used to have a 'big' Craftsman ball bearing, latched drawer over/under at home and the 68 at work. When the 68 came home, the CMan got the boot. If I manage to find myself a lathe, I'm going to wish I'd kept the CMan for tooling. But I'll have to make something work.

 

PHM brings up a good point. Putting things on wheels/casters is another great way to save space. I don't use my shop press too much, so it's on casters and tucked into a corner. I can wheel it out, press things, and wheel it back without taking up precious space or making my life unnecessarily difficult.

 

ESAB makes good bang for your buck machines. Look for multi-process machine that will let you do TIG welding. Once you get the hang of it, you'll find uses for it everywhere. Thin material and aluminum are best when TIG welded.

 

OK, all this shop talk has me thinking we need a dedicated thread. There's one on a moto forum I belong to, and it's been fantastic. Plenty of shop porn, and a great exchange of ideas on organization, layout and storage.

All of my boxes are beyond full. Between machines tools, automotive tools, wood working tools. 3 generations of mechanics and iron workers worth of tools.

 

Your trans temps have me a little worried about mine. Normal driving I'm usually around 150 and then when I hit the mountains I climb to 180-190. I'm using the standard torque pro trans temp and haven't added the custom PID's. Also, no towing just me and some camping/biking gear

What driving conditions have you guys down at 130?

 

I'm even lower than 130 while cruising at 65 on the interstate. My temps don't start climbing until I hit city streets.

 

Sounds normal. The heat factors of the trans is are mix of speed, load, acceleration and time. I wouldn't doubt ambient temperature, elevation, %grade incline/decline and atmospheric pressure come into play as well.

 

My son is looking to buy his first welder and I've been telling him the same thing: 'buy once, cry once'! He wants the Miller Multimatic I think... or the Lincoln equivalent... he's bummed tho cause they shut his school down and he wants to keep practicing. Luckily he just passed two certifications before the whole campus got shut down.

Well I think I've determined the popping noise is coming from either my front diff or driver CV. It seems to only happen at low speeds upon acceleration and braking.

 

Yep, full drain and fill 10k ago (I used the trans cooler hose to do the full 14 quart exchange) I felt fine with my temps but seeing other's lower made me wonder if my trans cooler wasn't as effective.

 

It might not be. Are the fins on it ok?

 

After 1 week with Android Auto I am very disappointed. I can't receive incoming calls on Bluetooth.

 

I've never used Android auto but I have an Android and my Bluetooth works great on my touch screen. Crystal clear calls I can make from my phone or from the screen itself. I have a few speed dials set on the screen for home and work etc

 

Oh regular Bluetooth works great. Android Auto is pure shit. I may just delete the app.

 

They look like they are 20 years old. I'll straighten them out and clean them up.

 

Sounds like a plan. The only app I really use is Google maps, Google play music, and Pandora

 

I'm assuming you've double checked all the permissions for the app? That's typically what causes issues.

No but I bought a ROUND TRIP ticket from Knoxville,TN to Portland, OR for $156.

Me too that's why i bought GM. Has to drop to $17 for me to make cash but only cost $24.

 

I'm a little spoiled, been flying Delta exclusively for the last 4 years. Only ones I haven't run into problems with delays or cancellations.

 

I finally got Porkchop back! I blew up the PP last March and he's just been chilling while I bought another SHO (Bacon) and fixed up Ironman a bit. So now I'm 3 SHOs deep in the trailerhood. Plus Ironman and Bessie. I got a full house here!
