I am new to owning a Tundra - just bought one last night, upgraded from a Nissan Juke..never owned a truck before.

I am looking for a bed cover (tri fold)

Looking for recommendations on one that doesn't leak .

My Extang Trifecta tonneau cover doesn't leak. This is the second one I have owned.

Do yourself a favor and just get a Diamondback. SD can hold 400lbs on top HD can hold 1600 lbs. Completely weathertight, locks so your entire bed area is secure. I've had my HD on for about 5 months now and couldn't be happier. Not a drop of water has gotten into my bed.

Also, made in America and if you or anyone in your family was or is in the military, you receive a nice discount!

That's nice - is it on Amazon or did you go through them directly?

I was in the same spot as you a few weeks ago. Just bought my 2020 tundra plat and was shopping around for a cover. From my research, diamondback are the best, but at a steep steep 1.5k~ price tag. I ended up going with an undercover flex and I love it, price was reasonable and its a trifold. And it’s sealed nicely through one rainy day so far. You can shop around and places will give you discounts on them. Install fairly simple and has drain tubes in case water goes in. Good luck!

    Thanks!

Yeah I was looking at the diamonds and they seem nice - but I feel it would limit access to the bed. I want something that is able to be more compact -

I am was looking at the undercover last night and also the Bak BAKflip MX4 Hardflip - Bak has decent reviews on Amazon.

Yes I was going to buy the bakflip mx4 as well cause it’s very popular and has good reviews. The undercover flex was about $150-170 cheaper so I went with that. The bakflip is a quadfold which is cool but I was fine with the trifold and it performs the exact same.

I have the bakflip mx4 as well.. I do occasionally get a little leakage in the corners near the tailgate. Use locktite on the fasteners up front as well on the little struts that hold up the cover, the vibration will shake things loose and the cover will start to slide..

Can the bakflip be locked? Also, does it hit the back window when folded all the way?

When the backflip is down and you lock the tail gate, the backflip can't be opened (at least not with force). When it is all the way folded up, it does rest against the back of the cab.

thats also what i liked about the undercover flex, folded up it doesnt touch the back of the cab. So no scratches or any marks at all. After heavy rain for a few days, it does leak into the bed around the rear corners but not insane amount.

I chose an Extang Solidfold 2.0 for several reasons. Here are a couple:

I wanted a cover that did not require me to bolt another rail inside the bed as most (all?) of the 'lay flat' type covers require. This was also important to me because I also installed a BedRug and the addition of a second rail would have required some cutting of that. Also, I didn't want a lay-flat tonneau rail intruding into the truck bed box.

Thirdly, I did not like the cable release on many other tonneaus that are vulnerable to someone using a coat hanger to snag the release it even if the tailgate is locked.

The installation was quick and simple, but I was very careful to align the tonneau so that it was perfectly centered on the top of the bed box. I have had *zero* problems with water leaks even in heavy rain or after truck washing with the garden hose. Don't use a car wash, so I can't speak to that, but I don't expect a different result.

    Good luck.
