What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Buy a seperate trans cooler and just run a russel thermostat. The trans warms up quick enough just driving if you have a thermostat on the line

I plan on running a fairly large trans cooler, with a thermostat and a mishimoto radiator... why? Because aluminum

 

Finally got the wheels and tires separated. Took em off at the self-service auto craft shop on post. Now we have choices.

I dig em too, same offset and backspacing as the OEM split-spokes we have on there now

Here is the muffler as delivered. I cleaned it up and sprayed some ceramic high temp on it. *Might* give this muffler tip away if anyone wants it for the cost of shipping. I like the clean look without it, but someone may like it. Its the Toyota factory/dealer accessory tip. All parts are there. First come first serve. It may be a while before I can ship it.

I picked up a like new take-off exhaust & muffler for my '02 way back in '03 and stuck in storage for just in case. The original exhaust is holding up great, so who knows if / when I will ever need to replace it.

Easiest way to find them would be to look for used OE stuff (Trans coolers from auto/dsg VW/Audi or similar) or search "Laminova" oil coolers.

Spicy, but effective and more trustworthy than the radiator IMHO.

 

Nice. My original has a side wall blow out and I epoxied it last year. Held up till last month and then I reglued the patch back on with Fuze. Just experimenting. It puts off an interesting flavored smell.

Still can’t believe I scored this thing for $150 (retail is $500-$700 plus the gaskets/clamp). I’ve always liked the OEM exhaust sound and never thought I would need to replace it as they are stainless. Can’t complain after 18 years I guess.

I am thinking it looks like I may be able to reuse the clamp and bolt. Asked a question in the Table Talk about what I may be able to use for the gasket thats available at the auto store. Trying to avoid special order.

Going to be a busy weekend

 

Looking forward to that retrofit Rock climber. I'm in the process of installing Mini D2S 5.0s into mine. I already had D2S projectors in them but I used some cheapo chinesium Royaling projectors. They had a tall cut-off step that I wasn't really happy with so I decided to replace with Morimoto D2S 5.0. I'm at the point of attaching the assemblies back to the truck to check rotational level. I'm going to either JB Weld or Gorilla glue the projectors to the bowl so they don't move once I level them. The other projectors had rotated a bit on me.

One thing I really like about the 5.0s is the lock ring. Its a aluminum lock ring that has 5 small cutouts for a lock ring tool that has a 10mm nut welded. This makes it super easy to tightly adjust the lock rings. With the previous cheapos I had to use needle nose pliers and those lock rings suck!

Today I got a chance to install my CoverKing covers. They are nice quality covers. They are NeoSupreme material and have some foam padding on the backside. They don't fit as good as the one's I installed in my Frontier a few years ago. Those were nice and tight. These are a little loose around the upper backrest. There is some looseness in the upper part of the backrest cover. Maybe over time, they will mold better to the seats. They are comfortable though. These included headrest covers and also the covers for the small arm rests attached to the seats. Those arm rests are so comfortable since the center console is much too low. And now, its time to tell you all how I screwed up during the install.

When I was installing the bottom cushion seat cover, I had to reach underneath the seat to grab the straps. Well my arm got a little close to the rails and I got some grease on my forearm which I didn't feel and I didn't even realize it until I noticed the giant grease stain that I had just put on my brand damn new covers after passing the straps to the back between the bottom and upper cushions. Dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so pissed off at myself. I'll post a pic of the damage tomorrow.

Lestoil good for removing grease, but very hard to get it's odor to go away. DON'T put them in a dryer (to shrink cover) until the grease is 100% gone. Heat will set the stain.

 

As a master of laundry arts. For grease in fabric Dawn is a great first choice. Apply it directly let it sit for an hour or so, then mix in a 1/4 cup with a sink full of cold water. Soak for another hour. Then run through the wash on cold with no other detergent and hang it to dry.

 

I can confirm this...I have had very good luck using generic blue dish soap to get grease stains out of clothes...I just applied it directly, let it sit for 1/2 hour and washed it normally, but for this case, I'd follow @Festerw directions.

CoverKing NeoSupreme. I had a grease cleaner on hand called Krud Kutter that I sprayed on, let it sit for about 30 seconds then scrubbed with a microfiber towel and the grease stain is pretty much gone except for a tiny spot.

 

threw on a simple backup camera. I really didn't want to mess with wires from the dash to the tailgate so this one just taps into the reverse light and is wireless to the monitor. The screen looks tiny but it's bigger in real life (hehe).

 

That's the same camera I installed on my DC before I switched to a wired camera with my Kenwood headunit. This wireless one has a better view angle though.

 

It seems to have a pretty good angle. I can backup almost to the edge of the screen past the red though and still be a few inches away so the guidelines are a bit too conservative. That’s ok. I’ll get used to it and it’s better than no camera when I gotta parallel park this stupid truck that needs a football field sized road to make a turn on

 

Didn't do much with the truck today because work has been busy and life is a little crazy for just about everyone right now. I did talk with the wife about the last few niceties we could grab tomorrow morning and about how much range my truck gets. She didn't understand why we wouldn't take her car if we went somewhere. I just looked at her and said "babe, people are getting crazy and if I have to ram someone I'm not liking the odds of getting your car running again". As usual she realized I had a point and let it go. Not to mention it's still winter in any of the three bug locations we have access to so the truck is it. Thanks Toyota!

 

In the past couple months I’ve done both wheel bearings, carrier bearing and had my wheels balanced.

Ponied up the dough today and bought new BFG KO2 285/75r16

the price tag hurt but driving away with no rumble and no vibration at 45MPH made it worth it.

 

Do you think these are different for your 5 speed auto? I just went into my Torque app to see which of these I had programmed before and I'm using a completely different equation for mine.

Did a probe attack on the muffler clamp removal. Bolt is seized. I’m ordering all the parts needed: Clamp, bolt/nut, and gasket ($30 w/shipping).
