My wife loses her keys ALL THE TIME.
I Found them in the freezer once, under a flower pot (got a picture of that one), she never puts them in the same place twice.
Did a quick search for "using keyless entry to find lost keys" and found a short article that only Passive Keys can be tracked, I get that because they have transceivers. Then I found this vidoe

Do I need to pay to use Tile’s finding features?
No, the app is free to use for our core finding features like ring my Tile, find my phone, see its location on a map, share with a friend, and community find.

if you are just trying to find it, and you are within audio range, there is no fee. you can opt to pay like $3 a month or something and it will allow you to utilize other users of tile to help locate your tile. But for basic locating, there are no fees. I think it will show the last location on a google map if it's too far away to hear, then you could probably get close enough to hear it.

 

Account is setup on a cell phone (app), no subscriptions required. So you may use a phone to locate the tiles.

Not sure about current models but the ones I got 3 yrs ago did not have a replaceable battery, so once that died, it was all over for that Tile.

Maker suggested using at least 2 'tiles', one to go on the object to be found and another to use to find the 1st one (keep that one on fridge for example so it can always be found to locate the 2nd one). This is especially handy if the phone can't be found either, haha....

 

For the record, Tile sucks. Their batteries are not replaceable, and the batteries die after about six months. They’re also not very durable, not even the “Sport” version that is advertised as such.
