Ok so i just traded in my Tacoma and get the tundra its a 2020 trd or 4x4 limited, and they gave me 2 key fobs and a normal old school key. Salesmen said that's a valet key so we tried to start the truck with just that old school key by putting it against the push to start engine button and nada. anyone have an idea how or what the extra old school key is for?

    it’s for the tailgate.
The key fobs also have a hidden key that pops out of the key fob for the tailgate when you press the little button on the side of the key fob.
Another fun fact, you probably have remote start too. Hit the lock button 3 times and hold it down on the 3rd time and it should start the truck.

Welcome! The old school key is probably just for locks not to start the truck. ‍♂️

Yeah it’s an annoying “safety” feature that I haven’t found a way around and I don’t think anyone else has either. It does the same thing when you start it using the Toyota connect app on your phone.
