I rub a little on my driver's side and eventually want bigger tires, so I am mentally prepared and need a body mount chop. One shop that is further from where I live quoted me $289 otd, taxes included for chop, plates and paint. A much more local shop just quoted me $440 and said the job is nearly a factory type job. I imagine they do great work, but damn, that seems like a lot of dough. I am in Orange County, CA for reference. Is that too much? Thanks for your input!

$100 seems more practical for that job honestly.

Thanks, in So Cal. When I do take it to a shop, would it be better to bring pre-made plates?

Ya defiantly. If you want to pay the $440 I’d suggest buying a welder and learning for that. $100 is fair for the work that needs to be done. It’s not hard to do...shop around or maybe a local here can lend a hand

since you're in OC, i'd recommend touching base with jason at demello. you'd have to drive out to 909 land but, he's a good guy and they do good work.

Really? They were the ones that quoted $440. Looks like JBM is where I am headed. Not too far from where I am in Mission Viejo area, but was hoping a local shop could do good competitive work. Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info. Just realized I am thinking about Rebel Off-Road. But steering clear of Outlaw. Just wanted to clear that up. Maybe Rebel does great work, but from this thread, they seem pricey AF.

Relentless plates are good for “normal” CMC. If you bring them to a welder, should be $200 max. It only takes an hour. But if you have plans for 37’s or something and need a really aggressive CMC, the Relentless plates are no good. I did mine myself with them and had to redo it once I went 37’s.

i brought him my plates at the time but he can fab them. that's usually what he does. yes he will paint over once the work is done. his CMC includes the cab mount cop and the pinched weld/trimming etc.

Looked on your build page, cool truck. How are you liking your Total Chaos UCAs? Is there any squeaking? Do you lube them every oil change or so?

Don’t buy plates until you know where you are going. Most places will want to make their own and bringing outside plates won’t save you any money.

Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the Pittsburgh or NE ohio area that would do a good job with this? I'm really leary of taking it to some random place to do something like this without them having some prior experience of doing a BMC

What part of the chop makes it more aggressive? Im about to cut myself.... already have the relentless plates so it'd be nice to know what I need to do. Pics are helpful:)

The relentless plates work perfectly fine for 35’s. But once you try putting on 37’s with a zero offset, there’s just not enough clearance. With the shape and the angle of the bend, you really don’t have much choice in how aggressive you can go without altering them. I cut them in half to decrease the angle of the bend to get them in as far as possible right under the mount. That probably took it in another 1/4” and it still wasn’t enough.CE704083-06D0-4222-8C8F-36F97AE18CE1.jpg
    E3CE3935-6879-4525-82EC-46BF16921B76.jpg

If I were still on MT and trying to fit those 37’s again, I would go way more aggressive. Something like this. It’s really the bottom half of the plate that rubs.
