Until the cost of keeping it running is too prohibitive to justify.

I plan on keeping my 2016 CM with 100k miles for 5 years or about 300k miles.

I feel this way too. I love my new truck and want to keep it a long time. I have been on a 3 year cycle but with the mods and how this truck fits my family's lifestyle so well, I feel like I could have it for a decade. The only issue for me is the gas mileage. That would be the cost prohibitive part. As long as my work commute stays short, I am good.

I have bounced around from truck to truck in the last 6 years (5 trucks including Silverado, Sierra, and Tacoma), now that I am in a truck I love I plan on keeping this until the wheels fall off. Wife and I are snowballing debt payoff and will be out of debt completely in 64 months. Looking forward to not having any payments and financial freedom!

I seem to alternate between F150's and Tundras....I keep them 8 years on average.

At least five years or until an asteroid hits it.

It'll be one or the other.

Let's see. I had my last Tundra 17 years. It was still going strong, but my wants became bigger than my needs and I bought a new one a year ago. Otherwise, I would have kept it till I retire in a few years and get a new one then for the better towing cuz I am going to get a trailer and take off. Plan on keeping this one till I am too old to travel around in the trailer and I am ready for the old age home. Maybe 15~20 years if it holds up like the last one (and if I hold up). I don't have to 'keep up with the Jones' ', I would rather not keep buying trucks and making payments. It's paid off, so is one less thing to think about in retirement. Going to pay cash for the trailer and not carry debt as I travel around this great country; I would rather watch the sunset with a nice cold mead.

Just rolled over 14k miles so I got a long time left in mine. The new Gen might be tempting but this truck is the fastest truck I have had unloaded, Tows great no complaints and is very comfy. As for Gas mileage the wife and I have a Honda for that. Tundra is all about Smiles per gallon. So unless the new gen interests me I will probably keep this one for a while. In May I will have had this truck for two years.

I kept my 2002 Tundra until 2012 and have no plans on buying another truck unless the current 2012 Crewmax is either stolen or wrecked.

List of things to be done: Rims, and level kit - $1750 cash $1930 credit Powder coating - $200 bumper caps Window tint - $220 Subs and tweeters - $210 Paint grille color match - $450 Katzkin Leather seats - $1400 Total - $4230
I had a 2008 Tacoma Trd off road for 11 years that treated me really good over those years. I bought my 2018 crewmax used with 23,600 miles on her back in July of 2019. I see myself keeping her for 10 or more years. My wife’s 2016 Altima is paid off so we will give that to my 15yo son to drive until he can afford to buy what he wants. She’ll need something else the. So I’m probably looking at more like 15 years but I know it’ll last.

Love my 2015 SR5...Bought in 2018 so I am good at least until 2028!
Only out about 6,000 miles a year on it so that is a realistic goal!

We’ve purchased 6 “new” vehicles since being married.

95 Chevy cavalier 4 blown head gaskets in 4 years less than 50k.
99 Pontiac grand am blown engine in 7 years mileage 70k.

These were our family cars we were on tight budgets, raising two little ones.

The “American” experience left a bad taste.

2007 Mazda CX-7 currently at 150k miles. VVT and AC had recallls I missed the warranty did both myself. Other than that normal routine maintenance and an alternator. Been a reliable car especially for a 4 cylinder turbo lots of bolt on mods. We gifted it to our Daughter at 18 for college.

2010 Mazda 3 currently at 140k miles. No issues routine maintenance. Gifted to our son at 18 for college.

2016 Lexus ES 350 Certified purchased in 2017 with 8k mikes currently at 40k miles. Wife Loves this car and will likely keep it into retirement.

We’ve had several used cars and trucks through the years of all makes, that I dumped money into and never saw returns. You just never know between the quality and the care what you are getting.

2019 Tundra new currently at 4K. I’ve spent at least 5k in mods and still need to do suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust, and stereo. I intended to keep this truck until I can’t.

So to answer the op, for as long as it lasts LOL

After crunching numbers this weekend, it'll be at least 5 more years with '05 though I could probably go another 10 years.

We just bought a 2018 used. Our last tundra lasted us 150,000 and 10 years, until it was 15 years old.
So I figure until about 200k on the odo or 15 years old, whichever comes first.

I’m am a recovering caraholic. I take it day by day. I wish I can keep a rig for 2 years let alone 15 years. I have owned 42 vehicles and the addiction is still going strong. I have a 2020 and I owe nothing on it nor do I have debts yet I keep pricing new rigs and seeing what’s out there. I don’t go on expensive vacations, I don't drink, I don’t buy anything else and I only have one wife and one house.

I’m on a 21 step program and have a sponsor I can call should I try to sneak out to the dealer or linger around the latest car show. So far I have been good. But I stay away from dealerships, auctions or anywhere where motor vehicles are sold. Pray for me as I need it. I am truly blessed and god has been good to me.

Kids if you are reading this, DONT READ CAR MAGAZINES. I use to work at a car wash as a kid and since then I read pretty much anything that has to do with engines and got hooked. Anyway, this is my confession and part of my therapy.

PS: I know I’m not the only one with this rare disease, so lets not pretend.

I just bought a 2017. Hopeful to get 200,000 miles out of it. The only reason I got rid of my 2003 with 210,000 miles was frame rust which was partly my fault.
