Well, I just preordered the new pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX 10.1" floating screen and all the iDatalink stuff to go with it. I'll be replacing my Halo 9 ILX-F309TND. I went with the Pioneer mostly for wireless Android Auto and the Alexa Integration. I'll use this thread to document install and thoughts on this unit when i get it. Has anyone else preordered one? They are expected to start shipping in March.

Its $1200 plus about $200 for the iDatalink, harness, and dash kit.

Have they updated the iDatalink for the 2020 models yet? I'm really wanting to upgrade my stereo system but that's holding me back.

The pioneer site specifically states idatalink compatibility, so I'm assuming it will work when I get it.

Cool, I figured it offers the Wireless so it's a plus over the Alpine - although I really like the Alpine's UI.

Wireless android auto only available with google pixel and nexus devices. Well, that's a bummer

I've been bouncing back and forth between the halo and the dasaita. I've always been a fan of pioneer but hadn't heard they were making a large screen yet now I've made my mind up.

Wow that thing is wide! I haven't actually measured, but I'm assuming it fits between the vents? How much room do we actually have there?

I have the halo9, and the only option I could come up with for wireless android auto is to have a seperate old phone always connected in the center console. I just mobile hotspot to it from my main when I get in the truck. Works perfect

I agree, but Alpine has just been too damn reliable and too damn consistent over the years for me to consider switching to another brand HU. I have had about 4 or 5 Alpine HU based systems over the years and have not had a single problem.

If the new halo units had Wireless AA and Alexa improbably would have just got one of them, but was disappointed in Alpine for not really including new functionality in the 2020 versions.

I'm a 35+ year Alpine fan... Even back to the days of their Luxman high-end home components. The Halo is limited in bling, but BLOWS AWAY other units in sound quality and dependability. I put Alpine HUs in all my trucks. I keep the truck for 12-15 years and the Alpine is working perfectly when it goes. I look at it like the truck... Alpine is the Toyota/ Lexus of HU. Reliable and luxurious in sound quality.
Nothing against this Pioneer unit... Looks good. They have always been feature heavy and performance mild, as goes my experience with them. BUT, this Pioneer HU definitely has good appeal, and I'm glad to see another option to the Halo that's not some China Tesla knock off. Good luck, looking forward to hearing more about this.

I originally wanted to go with the new 11 inch halo unit, but was severely disappointed that they didnt at least add wireless AA.

I’d love to upgrade my stock to this, but damn it’s expensive. I could get my leather interior done for what this cost....

I used to love Alpine .....in the 90’s.
To compare them to Toyota is calling them the iPhone of car stereo which means they are always behind on technology. I remember when they led the pack. Now they come to the table late .... kinda heart breaking.

My guess is Pioneer needs to update their material because Google added a few more devices to AA wireless a little while back.

    I hear you...
But i wouldn't insult Toyota or Alpine by comparing them to Crapple for anything.

Like our awesome, better than anything else trucks, Alpine still sits at the top for me. Yes, they are not what they used to be, but it does make a good fit for the truck...

Anyone got one of these in yet? I'm waiting to see what they're like and what works/doesn't work with the idatalink.
