Transfer case leak?

I noticed this leak recently that I believe to be the transfer case? Does anyone have any input on this? Planning on taking to a local Toyota dealer to diagnose this weekend or early next week. Trying to go armed with any possible info. Thanks! (2nd Gen with ~80,000 miles)

 

Before you go to the dealer do your due diligence and clean the entire area, not only where you can see at the bottom but way above and all over. I had a vehicle in the past (LandCruiser) with a LOT of miles and leaks everywhere. I spent a lot of time (almost entire weekend but it was most of the under hood area) but once clean and you drive for a bit then get it in the garage and shine a light you can see the shiny reflection and should be able to isolate the source of the leak. If you take the time to do this before the dealer visit you are arming yourself with facts before you get the bullshit from the stealership

looking at your pics it appears it has been leaking for quite some time.

 

Well at least it's helping with the rust!

But yeah its time to go get All the TC gaskets and new fluid, easy peasy....

 

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Will be able to get it cleaned good when the temps rise again here before taking it in next week.

 

LOL. Helping with rust but not my driveway surface!

 

1st and foremost check the fluid level. 2nd degrease. 3rd you can add a trace dye to the fluid and drive then hit it with a black light to id the leak, leak detection kits are a great tool to have in your garage and not that expensive.

From the top photo it looks like the front differential.

 

Bolt is loose.
