I over paid. 42k + service agreement, extended warranty, and tax $49900 otd. Service agreement and extended warranty was third party called toycare made it sound like a Toyota warranty, and double the price.

Depends on what model you are considering. A PRO will be more than an SR5. Plus the options you are considering.

    This is for a 2020 SR5 with:
    Convenience package
    TRD Sport package
    SR5 upgrade package
    Deck rail system
    Skid plate
    Bed Liner
    Blackout package

If you use Edmunds (which I did), this comes to (the 3 prices)
    Dealer cost: $44,709
    True market value: $47,069
    MSRP: $48,722

I purchased the truck for $46,029. I didn't add tax as that varies from state to state.

As I mentioned, I found Edmunds useful.

My MSRP was $54.5k (toyota), $57k (distributer options), $59k (dealer options)....I paid $53k. This was in the DFW area and the cheapest I could find during early Nov. Some dealers in the area were 10k more.

I paid what I paid and that all that I paid. I hate these threads. Most people put prices and don't tell you any accessories that came with the truck to give you a true estimate. I feel like half the time they exaggerate to make it seem like they got a better deal. Hell half the times people don't even say if it was a DC or CM. Price varies so widely by dealership, salesman, inventory the dealer is able to get, state, so many variables that it just makes these threads become a pissing contest for guys to prove they got the best deal.

I am not sure I agree or that is a fair statement. SprinterAE86 showed his invoice and I listed all my options and if the OP need to see my receipt to prove what I paid so he could show his salesman, I would send a copy of my paperwork. I am not trying to impress anyone with what I paid. However, I asked the same questions when I started to look and found what others posted very helpful.

The threads regarding what people pay for extended warrantee’s was equally helpful and saved me a lot of money. The dealer started out at $2900 and when I told him that was exorbitant, and showed him posts from this site, he lowered it to $1620.

I see the members on this site as honest and truly looking to help without trying to impress. Just my opinion.

I just got my Tundra 2020 in December and out the door with extended warranty (From Credit Union NOT Toyota) I paid $44k on a $52K MSRP Truck. This is my 2nd auto experience from my credit union and it feels like they get the better deals.

Currently looking into a 2020 Platinum CM 4X4. Anyone ever get some great deals using the Costco or TrueCar programs? Or better off just picking your number and waiting for the dealer to meet it.

Costco is great for a no-hassle experience on a new model. If you’re into shopping multiple dealers, and spending a good amount of time looking for the absolute best deal, Costco won’t be of any help.

I bought my 2018 after filling out at Truecar. I live in a town with only 1 Toyota dealer, so I use a zip in Atlanta or Charlotte (both about 2 hours away)when I fill out the Specs at Truecar, in this case Charlotte. When I'm done, I head out the door and get inundated with calls. I tell the salesmen that call, "I want the best out-the-door price - including tax, fees, etc. and am not interested in any service or warranty packages - and only in the vehicle that I built on Truecar." When they ask for me about my trade, credit, or to call them if I get a better deal, I just respond, " No, call me when your sales manager gives you your best price. I'm currently only x-minutes away from town, leaving with a vehicle today and headed to another dealership." My 2018 Platinum Crewmax 4x4 was 48k OTD (that included 7% sales tax for GA, registration, any BS doc fees that they wanted to add, and spray-in-bedliner that they agreed to buy for me. BTW, I only buy at the end of the month. This was February 28, 2018. Did the same for a 2018 Audi Q5 on 9-30-17, and my Ram Limited before that on 10-31-2012. Worked very well all 3 times.

Good to know thank you - I actually live in Charlotte... tons of dealers around here. Could be a good jumping off point.

I traded my 2018 Platinum for a 2020 Platinum 4X4. I paid $46K for the 2018 (running boards, hood clear protective film, both carpet and all weather floor mats, Tinted front windows, however; it was not 4X4). I installed lights (front foot well and under front seat, BAKFlip Tonneau cover, black chrome exhaust tip and TRD shift handle). I traded it for a 2020 Platinum out the door $47K. Here's lies the best part of the trade... I got to keep the tonneau cover, TRD shift handle, switch the running boards, switch the exhaust tip, switched TRD shift handle and they took off and reinstalled all the other items to the new Tundra at no cost. I just asked and they took care of it. I'm thinking..... did I forgot something...…. oh yeah I let them keep the lights($50).

For your 2020 Platinum - When you say "out the door", do you mean:

    1) Offer + all related fees, but NOT including tax
    2) Offer + fees + tax

I'm negotiating one as we speak.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but when I bought my wife's Corolla I found the same car at 3 different dealerships and contacted their on-line sales rep. I pitted them against each other and was honest with them, lowest price wins. It came down to two with the exact same price and one said they'd throw in a free set of floor mats so they got the sale...it did take almost 3 weeks so you'll need time.

Normally OTD means that’s final price with taxes and fees and everything else that they included.

OTD is such a bad number to use because of staggering tax differences. For example I paid 7.75% sales tax in CT while my father pays a max of $500 in SC for the identical truck. That is a difference of of like $3500

That’s true. It makes sense only though states that have high sales taxes.

Hence why I'm a proponent of the thread adopting the simple format below:

    • MSRP: $
    • Dealer Offer: $
    • Less Incentive: $
    • Fees: $
    • Net: $
    Example:

    • MSRP: $55,000
    • Dealer Offer: $51,000
    • Less Incentive: -$2,000
    • Fees: $199
    • Net: $49,199

My local dealer isn't budging much at the moment. Only offering a dealer discount of $1,000 off MSRP.

I also don't have the "benefit" of going to other dealers either (in Alaska)....granted I do have the benefit of no sales tax.

    Current offer in hand:

    - 2020 SR5 Double Cab
    - TRD Off-Road Package
    - SR5 Upgrade Packages
    - Spray on Bedliner

    MSRP: $45,628
    Dealer Discount: $1,000
    Doc Fee: $199
    DMV: $280

    OTD: $45,107
    Toyota Financing: 1.9% @ 60 months....or....$2,000 rebate

Edmunds, KBB & NADA are all $43,000 BEFORE Toyota's $2,000 rebate.

Even being in Alaska, I still think there is more room to move on that price.

Focus on the items the dealer can control:

    - Offer
    - Doc/Dealer Fees
    - % off MSRP
    - Trade-in value (If trading in)

The items below will affect cost, but are outside the dealers control.

    - MSRP itself
    - Taxes
    - State/DMV fees

Also not all state's require the dealer to collect tax, it is paid at registration at the DMV. For example here in AR you don't pay tax to the dealer but you have 30 days to get to the DMV to license, register, and pay sales tax all at once.

If helpful to anyone, I built a price analysis tool for folks who are shopping. It is attached here. Will help you compare dealer to dealer.

    • Step 1: Build your ideal truck using Edmunds
    • Step 2: Fill in blue cells with Edmunds Data
    • Step 3: Fill in yellow cells with dealer info
    • Step 4: Use target % off MSRP
