I cant quite figure out what the problem is. The purple/white wire is connected, the backup camera interruption is on but yet the backup camera doesn't pop up when I put it in reverse.

The headunit is a Kenwood Excelon 905S.

Go to the camera settings on the Kenwood and select the "interrupt" feature.

Does the camera turn on if you press the Cam button on the unit?

Hmm - you're certain you have the video wire from the rear camera plugged into the jack designated for the rear camera and not the AV or front input? Next I would check to make sure your reverse lights are coming on when you put it in reverse and if that checks out double check the wiring harness.

Last idea I have is to check the camera assignment settings on the Kenwood to make sure the correct camera is listed for rear-view. This is in the camera settings right above the rear camera interruption setting.

Only other things are to verify ground and if signal wire is connected to correct reverse wire. One way to check can be turn on lights while in reverse.

Whats with the butt splices that have cut wires? Can you post a pic with the camera activated? And I know I already said this but you've verified your reverse lights are coming on when you put it in reverse?

Those are the speaker wires that are going to the factory amp. I have an aftermarket amp installed. Yes I can verify the reverse lights come on

Next I would undue the splice and use a DMM to see if any voltage comes out of the purple and white wire when you put the truck in reverse. That should tell you if it is something with the HU or if the HU is just not receiving the signal to interrupt.

Long shot, put try plugging the video feed wire from your camera into the other yellow video jacks. Your settings in the photo above have the Kenwood parking guidelines turned on but they are not displayed on your camera image which tells me it might think this is a front camera? Maybe they mismarked the video input cables on the Kenwood??

I've hit the parking brake to see if that menu would pop up. The manual says that menu is for the after market camera. I'm still using the stock. Headunit and Maestro is up to date

Try turning on the AV feed and see if you get anything.

On Pioneers there is an option for them to pick up ground or voltage to detect the vehicle is in reverse. If you got it from Crutchfield they’ll probably know right away. They’re pretty amazing.

When I put my Pioneer in I plugged the yellow from the camera into the yellow on the stereo which was for a second camera. Turns out the backup camera input is TAN. I didn’t read the directions which were black and white but did state that. The guy at Crutchfield immediately knew what I’d done. o_O

My Kenwood did the exact same thing. Turned out the camera was bad. Replaced it, ran the new wire to the HU, and it's worked fine ever since.

I wouldn't think the camera is bad with it being a factory camera. It works just find just doesn't come on automatically when I shift it in reverse

They don't come on when you turn the camera on thru the head unit, but it does briefly display what input is active.

You may need to pull the maestro and reprogram it.
Make sure your parking brake is not engaged at all.
There is another wire that kinda looks like it doesnt go anywhere, it's short, I don't recall the color, maybe white with an orange line? You need to ground that to a screw on the back of the headunit.
While you have the maestro out, you could reconnect the OEM stereo and see if it works.

Did you ever get this reaolved? I had the same issue and just figured it out. Find the green wire on the grey connector. Check for power when in reverse. Connect to the camera activate wire on radio.
