New to the Tundra world. Anybody know how to clear codes, without going to a stealership?
I would like to replace my gas cap on my 2015 SR5 double cab with a locking cap. A lot of reviews say it will throw codes.
Thanks for any help or advice.

Just go to o'Reilly's and have them do it for free.

Not sure if a different gas cap would actually throw a code but if it is just clearing them may not keep them from coming back.

I'm willing to bet there are others on here that use them.

Reviews state may or may not code. I think maybe cap is not tightened enough or 'O' ring not seated.
:bananadance: I would change back to the OEM, and chalk it up to lesson learned. Thanks for the help....I live 1/4 mile from Auto Zone, and drive by it several times a week. DUUU. o_O

I switched to a locking cap and it has not thrown a code.

Just spoke with Auto Zone; they said they will 'translate' code for a customer (no charge) but will not clear it. They will "rent" the hand held computer so you can clear the code, but it's a liability issue if they do it for you. The "rent" is in quotes because it doesn't take long to clear a code; all they do is hold your driver's license till you are done using it (in the parking lot). Basically free.
This info should help anyone else with code issues.
Thank you for the input..it is greatly appreciated. :hattip:

Buy an $8 OBDII reader off Amazon and download Torque-lite for free on your phone...boom-bam...done.

    Reads and clears codes...

Or, just unhook the battery - and rehook it.

I got it from Amazon, about $8.00, free delivery and returnable. It came with 2 keys. If I get codes, I'll send it back, no questions asked.
Best thing since pockets on shirts.

Well in your case I can see why............maybe a 6" lift and some bigger tires.

Or a German Shepherd tucked in underneath. I'd pay to see that.
 although... a 3" lift would work, the guy is only 5' 3". He probably stood on a tall brick.

Been using that one without any codes for a couple months now. The one issue I did have is the lock didn't want to turn when it was extremely cold one day, had to warm to key up to get it open.
