So I bought the truck new, have 19k on it and the tires have worn quickly on the edges.

is this just bad tires? Need alignment on brand new truck? Justification to the wife for sway bars all around? :kona:

I do park in parking garage at work, so not sure if that could be contributing....

    Any isight would be helpful

I think this is a bad alignment. How do the others tires look? Maybe they never rotated them.

Yikes. All 4 look that way? What PSI are you running? Have they ever been rotated? Ever hit anything that would have knocked it out of alignment? I wouldn't ride around on that tire much longer.

Isn't that pattern typical of under-inflated tires?

Have you been using the Toyota Care service? Maybe Toyota will warranty them?

It looks like it is just the outside edge - is the inside edge wearing normal?

I have been using Toyota care (rotations def being done).

the inside is not as badly worn as outside edge.

Toyota does bot warranty them, you have to work with manufacturer at specific locations (listed in tire warranty book)

Do you drive mostly city? My wife and i drive maybe 10% freeway and our outside edges always wear faster from all our turns in the city

The stock tires are very weak in the sidewall. With our heavy trucks that shoulder area of the tire takes a beating in turns

Tires look pretty well shot all the way across but the wear difference screams alignment issue. Solution is 4 new tires and a good alignment.....very soon. Don’t accept an alignment if they can’t show you wear it was out of spec and causing that wear. You’ll be back in the same place in 20k.

If you do lots of city driving and are routinely cranking all the way to wheel lock it wears the outside of your tires like this. That said, I agree there is an alignment issue as well. Doesn’t matter if you think you hit something or not. Tires don’t lie.

New tires and an alignment it is!

Now to do the research on what tires to get with no lift

For what it’s worth mine will look like that ina. Few thousand more miles and I kept bringing the truck back and bitching about the alignment, namely the toe, and they never got it figured out. I’m hoping new tires, of higher quality, will solve the problem.

Go to a different alignment shop.

Different tires won’t solve an alignment issue.

If tires are P rated, they are under rated for Tundra. Will wear faster.

Those tires look pretty well worn all the way across. You’re almost down to the indicators. My truck was on the path to do that and I noticed it immediately. First thing I did was run more air pressure in the front tires. That helped. Then put a rear sway bar on only and they started wearing much more evenly. I wouldn’t rule out getting an alignment but these trucks tend to wallow in the corners.

So, tire shop said that the stock tires have a weak sidewall edge. There is a Bridgestone Dueler Alenza+ which is same tire but much stronger sidewall edge. Irritated that Toyota would put such crappy tires on the Tundras

The inner part of the tire looks OK. Since the just the outside is worn, it looks like too much positive camber. You will new tires, but I would align the truck. Otherwise you could ruin the new tires you buy.

Take a pic from the front of the truck and put a level in it. My guess is the front tires will not be straight top to bottom.

During the 3 or 4 times you had them rotated & balanced, did the dealership mention abnormal wear?

My 07 Tundra came with Bridgestones as well, don't remember which one but I only got 12k out of them. They do wear quickly and curious to see what these Alenzas get on my '19.

The tundra corners so much tighter with e rated tires. These trucks are far too heavy for p rated tires. Toyota uses them because they are very lightweight and get better mpg

@Jcmf52 , you're not alone. See pic below...this is at 39,000 miles, shitty P-rated Alenzas. Getting a set of Toyo Open Country AT2's put on Saturday, with alignment. Was considering the Cooper Discoverers and Falken Wild Peaks, but the Toyos were on sale at $120 less per set than the Coopers and Falkens, and the Toyos have great tread wear reviews. I have a 2.5" spacer leveling kit in the front. Mixed opinions on whether or not a 2.5" spacer will severely affect alignment, so I am going to get it aligned anyways considering I'm moving from a 31.9" tire to a 34.1" tire (275/55 R20 to 275/65 R20). I'm interested in what the alignment measurements will be...if BARELY green, will probably invest in adjustable UCA's to get back to SOLIDLY green.

dealer never once mentioned abnormal wear. Even took it to them a random time to patch one of the tires

A rear anti-roll bar and new & better tires may be all you need. Of course you will want a new alignment when the new tires are installed.

Ive got 34k miles on the stock Michelin AT2 tires. They are at 5/32nds, not too far from the wear bars. They are also more worn on outside. Purchased the truck used so no idea if previous owner kept correct pressure or rotated them...they do however all have the same tread depth and wear.

And those tires are rated for 60k miles.....I can't imagine how they would look if I tried to run them that long.

In doing some research on replacement tires I have seen that other trucks- fords, dodge, etc also appear to quickly wear out stock or P rated tires...based on the posts in their forums.

I think heavy trucks in general will wear out the outsides quick on P load tires. I have always moved to C load tire on past trucks, jeeps, 4runners with great results....with my Tundra, I will be moving to E load and go up one tire size.
