ARB Lockers with Compressor or Bumper with Warn winch?

So you are ready for the next upgrade to your truck. You have about $3500 to spend. Do you do the ARB rear lockers with onboard air or new bumper with a warn winch? What do you do first?

Winch. With or without the locker you're going to get stuck and need a winch.

 

That's the direction I'm heading that the winch is more important than the lockers. The lockers will reduce the number of times I get stuck but not eliminate them.

 

Winch/bumper and hold off for the Eaton

 

Winch all day... Plus OBA? No Brainer.

 

Is Eaton coming out with a comparable product to the ARB air locker?

 

If you solo-rig a lot, definitely winch before lockers.

 

Where do you normally off-road and what type of terrain do you travel? Do you have a suspension system already that will handle 200 lbs of extra nose weight?

They have them in production in Australia but with the fires it has delayed things a bit. I am a lucky SOB because I got the first set for my 2018 Tundra for both front and rear. They are NOT comparable in my opinion to ARB air lockers due to the Engineering defect in the ARB design with a failing O ring problem. Long story on the problem but Google searches can shed some light on the subject.

Elockers in my opinion are the best option

 

I disagree...lockers are very useful, though in the scale of priority I do agree a winch would be yet more useful especially for solo adventures.

The thing about a locker is you'll rarely need one. But in those situations where one is truly required (which can happen outside of hardcore rock crawling), they're well-worth the money spent. People who simply daily drive their rigs with an occasional trip to a local state park may never need a locker. People who look for off the beaten path sort of places will encounter situations where they will want to have one.

Also, I do agree the air lines and seals with the current ARB offerings don't lend themselves to long term reliability, especially in climates with large temp fluctuations. It's encouraging to see Eaton E-lockers being developed for the Tundra.

 

Lockers are not just for rock crawling.

Any time you’re driving up a hill with uneven terrain or patches of loose dirt, a locker will help prevent you from losing momentum
