I don't know what any of this means

 

Set of HD Dakar’s from a newer taco for 100 bones with 15k on them. I think I’m going to try them for the tundra. Pull the leaf pack apart and use the tundras main leaf with the Dakar leafs sans top leaf

 

The hotspot is the bright part of the beam. I think a lot depends on your personal preference, but I like when the hotspot is just below the cutoff line. My nilights required some shimming on the bulb holders to get the hotspot right there. From my initial testing the yufanyas have the hotpot about where I want it.

The rotation is just the leveling of the projector.

 

You guys have some real fancy radios. Mine has a a remote control.

You need to rotate the projectors so the upper stair step from the driver, is inline or level with the step up of the passenger. It looks like you need to rotate both, the passenger side lower step is on the upper step of the driver, they should all be level. But other than that they look good

 

Nice! Did you have to bake the assy to open it up so the projectors could fit?

 

It's the same type of setup that southpaw and I have. You have to bake them and take it all apart.

@empty_lord did you get the floor liners made for center console or the ones made for no center console? I saw a group buy recently and considered getting them but got confused by the options (since one day I'll have a center console).

Cool story. This truck was like your dads for 16 years since 2002 with boring entries. The next 3 years look boring from here out.

My grand dad would write everything down. He had ledgers on everyone in the family. I saw one of his personal ledgers, after he passed away, from buying/selling live stock when he was a small farmer and he logged everything down from purchase to feed to final sale. He never lost money and always ate well! He even took a nationwide drive across the country during the 1929 depression just to see how things were because he was not affected by it and wanted to see things for himself.

I just bought the ones for a regular cab. They fit fine from what I can tell. No carpet in the truck so it’s not 100% right yet.

 

Yep, I too was surprised too and curious what the difference is.

 

What's a radio?

 

It's that hole in the dash you insert cassette tapes into. Drowns out the ruckus the vent visors makes at 80.

Mine is really fancy. I crank the volume to maybe 27 and it decides this is too much and starts to turn it down for me. I guess my factory radio just wants me to get rid of the iron maiden and go back to my usual classical music.

 

That was part of the safety package. Air bags was old news and overated, keeping iron maiden below 60db's was Toyota making sure you hear the sirens behind you.

I would like to document the work I do on the Tundra more, but my Flickr is dominated by my M3 build (former) and my 911 build (current) and I'm out of space.

What image hosting sites/services are you all having success with? I'm not a big fan of photobucket after the mess they caused 2(?) years ago.

You shouldn't need a hosting site. I just post directly from my phone or if I'm on my laptop I just copy paste or take a screenshot. This forum is actually easier to post pictures than others I visit.

 

Yesterday I pulled out my rubber bed mat to find a bit of rust. Between my camper shell(which isn't water tight) and my mat, the bed is having a hard time drying out with all the rain we're getting.

Having said all that. What do you guys think about using Rust-Oleum bed coating? I know it works well on other projects. Would anyone be hesitant to try this?

I definitely agree that many of the Toyota Forums I have visited/member of, are fubared by photo bucket. I'm not knowledgeable nor a user nor a fan of hosting sites. Many DIY's across the net are screwed because of being outdated, deleted, missing...etc. All that to say, I wish more would simply attach their pics by uploading them to Tundras.com. Many of the Build threads point to pics that are stored here on site and will always be here....that's JMO !

 

The Rustoleum is pretty good, fairly "sandy" texture, somewhat fine=grained. I use it on fiber gun stocks and it gives a good grip (although I tend to have paint and clear over it). I'm going to see how the Monstaliner I just put on my Dodge bumpers holds up for a few months and a cross country run before I use it on the Tundra's bed, but that is the eventual plan. It is a larger and smoother edged texture. Seems tough, looks good--somewhat sensitive to application methods. I flattened out a small spot on the rear by "re-rolling" one small spot with too much of the coating on the roller and not going back over it when it had tacked up a little.

 

As soon as it’s warm enough, I’m doing the bed in Monstaliner, I’ve had it on our plastic 4runner “bumper” for 3 or more years with no issues. I’ve even folded the rear bumper coming down on a rock, and all it did was crack the monstaliner, it hasn’t flaked or chipped off anywhere near the crack, prep is key with that stuff
