If you have a pic of yourself as your avatar and you have Down syndrome and I call you a half wit retard is it not personal? Do I have to know you to make it personal?
Anyway, whether this gals pic is legit or not, I have no idea. To me, it’s better to err on the side of caution.

The last thing I would do when signing on to "any" truck forum is what the OP did. My initial thought....another troll. Excuse me but our forum isn't titled... "Toyota dropped the ball with the Tundras.com." Am I missing something??? Maybe..."I'm glad to join your forum and by the way........?" Oh..... and I'm pretty f'ing busy too....lot's of us are.
I'm somewhat skeptical by nature. The older you get that's pretty much my take on things. I like my 14. I liked my 07. I liked my new 75 Ford short wide box 4X4 with Ranger chrome ass trim. Bought new. $5700. A lot of f'ing money back then. I was making $4.44 per hour in a plywood mill. Good money back then. I set chokers for a high lead logging outfit for 18 months before I joined the Marines in 79. $8 per hour. Super killer money back then. Went to UCC in Roseburg, Orygun at the same time. Bought a 76 Bronco and tricked it out before I enlisted. My Ford truck and Bronco were primitive compared to what we have today. Primitive in a good way. No fucking nannies. My 14 Limited is great. Quite happy with my stereo. Shit...AC was an option back then. Auto trannys were too. AM radio standard...AM/FM.....whoa was great if you could get it. Give me a f'ing break. A bunch of whiners.....sheesh....

I did a recent trip to southern Africa...entailed renting a moderately out-fitted Hilux (with the 2.4l diesel, not the coveted 2.8l diesel) and tooling around some very remote and rough roads for a bit. That little truck took everything the road (using that term loosely here, as some of these "roads" were merely dirt tracks) threw at without blinking an eye. And looking underneath at the frame and chassis, it was apparent why that truck does so well in the developing markets. Everything about it was overbuilt: the axles, the frame, the suspension. It is rated for X, with the understanding that some semi-ignorant driver (present company included) is likely going to take it and perform X+10 for years on end with minimal maintenance.

The current Tundra is visibly a different truck from the Hilux, but when I look underneath it I see very much the same design philosophy at play: big brakes, big axles and ring gears, beefy powertrain components. The C-channel frame, for all the flack it has taken, still looks robust as hell from outward appearances. The fluid lines are neatly laid out and organized, out of harm's way. And even driving that thing, I get the same feeling with it as what I got from the Hilux (minus the Hilux's insane low-end torque): the feeling of a simple yet solid, well-built truck...one that will run just as well at 150k miles as it did at 0 miles.

I'm not saying the Tundra is perfect...but there is an overarching theme made apparent by its design and layout. If you want something "more" than what that theme offers, by all means look at the other 1/2 tons. The GM 3.0l diesel has my interest, but until GM gets in the same ballpark as Toyota in terms of longterm reliability, that's all it has. I look at the light-weight optimizing and higher gearing used by most other 1/2 tons and I realize their focus is much different from the Tundra's.

Been dealing with the flu-bug for the past 2 weeks, and its really been kicking my ass. I decided to ignore typical Western medicinal practices and procedures, and take matters into my own hands. Will it work?:monocle: Am i on the right thread?...o_O

Nope, only thing that mine is missing is locking rear diff. I don't need the bells and whistles the big 3 offer. I liked having the locker and power inverter on my Tacoma but did not use enough to really miss on Tundra. Tundra is just so much better built and engineered versus Fords I owned.

I'm pretty sure the time it took to read this thread is gone forever. As someone who has made a life of riding between the ditches there are just a few things I will add. If you are trying to make a living the first things you need to look at is your expenditures. 1. Fuel 2. Tires etc. etc. If you have to run a thousand miles in 24 hours you are working outlaw or for the DOD. If all your money is going out the tailpipe and buying 20 inch tires you have made a poor choice. Sunfish

That's because its the oldest, they haven't kept up with the testing like the others have. When the truck was first out I think it was rated pretty good.
