    https://www.torquenews.com/6626/2021-toyota-tundra-finally-has-more-storage-new-trim-level

Toyota has been busy lately with their trucks and SUVs. The 2021 Tacoma, 2021 Tundra and 2021 4Runner are all getting new Trail Special Editions. Tacoma and Tundra will also introduce new Nightshade Editions for 2021 model year. 4Runner has a Nightshade currently.

I recently wrote about the 2021 Tacoma Trail, and today I will focus on Tundra.

One of the areas for Tundra improvement would be to add more storage areas so that people can utilize this new space for camping, fishing, road trips and much more. For 5,000 lucky buyers, a new 2021 Tundra Trail Special Edition might be worth a look.

    2021 Tundra Trail Specs

People who enjoy the outdoors may want to see this new Trail Special Edition. The additional storage along both sides of the bed might come in handy during weekend road trips.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra Trail Special Edition is based on an SR5 CrewMax cab configuration. This can be purchased in either 2WD or 4WD. It will also come with the SR5 Upgrade Package, which offers a 38-gallon fuel tank, front center console with front bucket seats and power lumbar driver’s seat, three cup holders, anti-theft system, and tilt/telescope steering wheel.

Expect your 2021 Tundra Trail Special Edition to feature the same 1794 Edition Tundra chrome front grille, including special-edition wheels.

I am interested in seeing this new insulated bed storage that can double as a drink cooler. The lockable extra storage should help store luggage and valuables.

I’ll take “Tundra Potpourri” for $200 please Alex

New Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner Trail Special Edition models should be available at dealerships this summer.

They are offered in your choice of Cement, Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and Army Green. They will all come with black seats and tan stitching, along with black badging and all-weather floor liners.

Time for your thoughts on 2021 Tundra

Since the rumored 2021 Tundra redesign has been pushed back a little, we do have a couple new trim levels to talk about – Nightshade and Trail.

What do you think of the bed storage in new Trail Tundra? Would you use it and what would you store there? I know I would put drinks in for sure for long camping weekends.

I doubt I would like that in the bed but you never know until it is there.

Doesn't look as bulky as when I first saw the pics a few days ago. But I would still have a tough time fitting 2 dirt bikes, definitely not 3. For that reason, I am out.

I like it. I’d like to come up on some for my truck as it looks like the mount to the accessory rail. Something like that, that is removable, could be very useful and versatile.

I think this is a better solution than the Ram box. With the Ram, you lose bed space indefinitely, and there’s no changing it. At least these are removable by the looks of them. So you can use them when convenient, and remove them when you need the space. Best of both worlds.

Not sure why more trucks don't have these. I loved this thing in my Titan. I actually wished it had them in both sides. Good for straps and such. It actually seemed to seal up alright too.

Something like this would be much better ... you know actually use space that is currently unusable rather than taking up bed space! Also another example of things that should be option packages and not trim levels. What if I want a 1794, Platinum or TRDPro with insulated bed storage for some reason? Is Toyota really just saying no I can't add whatever this "trim" level costs over a normal SR5 to higher trim level? Seems dumb to me!

Of course i'm sure for the price point the Trail cooler edition will cost I could buy a nice 12v fridge, Redarc and 2nd battery with all the wiring needed to make it all work and be better off in the end. Might even have beer money left over to fill the new Dometic!

I miss this in my 2004 Titan. like you said it worked well I did have an issue with the door starting to corrode but I had 10 years and 160K on the clock. Bought a new door and had it shot white and all was good again. The Titan should have had them on both sides. Our trucks need this kind of help.

Who says you have to use both sides at the same time?

I don't see why this would preclude any bed cover.

Exactly! I guess I would just want to see them in person, and if they are modular, wouldn’t mind having them in storage. Might work great on off road trips to keep everything organized. Just another option.

Congrats Toyota... You joined 2010 and finally did a twin turbski v6 in an SUV (and I assume a truck to follow) and now you made a box. Not a box inside somewhere that was completely unused. No no no, you made a box that takes up useable space.
Take my money! Anybody want to buy a first gen with an uber modular box system?

I'm actually looking for something like this, something that fits around the wheel wells and creates a closable/lockable area on either side, and maybe above the wheel well. However, this aint it. It needs to extend fore and aft as far as possible to maximize the storage; I don't get why they scalloped it out at the rear. They also tucked it in at the bottom when they should have continued it straight all the way down to the bed. Like they designed it for looks and not for function; the marketing dept designed this one. Too bad. Gotta keep looking.

That is unbelievably cool. If any truck manufacturer even provided a reasonably priced option like that they would kill it. Imagine that is a pricey setup though. Just the pull out storage bumper would be awesome to have.

Sigh. More crap on an already payload-starved truck.

WTF?!?! Not for me unless I buy this for a work truck. How would you keep all the tools in the specified place in their “racks” inside that thing. He said Offroad vehicle, how much weight is added to the truck with all of that in there? I like it the way it is

I actually think this is a decent idea. Just know that if you’re buying one of these you likely won’t be able to put a toolbox in it, crossover or even a chest.

Robots in disguise. Mine would never look like that. I would want it all neat and organized, but it would not. “Impact, hmmmm, I think it behind the bumper, maybe....”

Do we know if these will only be available with purchase of the trail edition or will Toyota off them as an accessory?

    @Roman ?
