    A few months ago I traded my 2017 Tundra in and got a spankn’ new 2020 Tundra. I wish I had kept the 2017.

    My complaints/issues with the 2020 in 6,000 miles..

    -Wind Noise, worse than my old truck that had 75,000 miles on the odo

    -Pedal Buzz. I can feel the engine “hum” or vibrate through the pedal between 1,800-2,000 RPM. It smooths out below and above that rev range. Old truck didn’t do that.

    -Radar is “glitchy” several times it as applied the brakes for no damn reason at all.

    -Been to the dealership twice for bad front end vibration @ 70mph. Both times they balanced the tires.

    -Today (second time in shop) they told me that the brake pads were “sticking” to the calipers. They replaced the front calipers and pads. Have no idea what that was about..have never been hard on the brakes.

    -Two weeks ago I towed our 4,000lb travel trailer about 40 miles to a state park. When we arrived I smelled a strong “burning rubber” scent. It smelled like something was on fire under the truck. I crawled all over and under the truck, felt the wheels over the bearings, and the calipers. Everything was cool to the touch and I couldn’t find anything obvious. Service Rep at the dealership told me it was an exhaust coating that burns off when you tow. Says the exhaust doesn’t get hot enough to burn the coating off if it’s not under a load? Told me not to worry if I smelled it again. lol

    so..not too impressed with my 2020 in the first 6,000 miles.

    I have a 2017 and 2019.

    I like the new electronic dash on the 2019. Quieter blinkers. I love the one touch blinker for lane changes that flashes 3 times when you push the stalk up 1/3 of the way. I have mixed feelings about the TSS system too. I e experienced the brakes being applied and it annoying. But once you’re cruising along in regular traffic, it’s nice. One of my peeves with it is in snow/ice. If the weather gets bad at all; the system just shuts down on me. I don’t notice much difference between the two otherwise. Hopefully they get your 2020 sorted out quick.

    FWIW, I don’t notice any more wind noise or more vibration in the pedal on mine.

    the wind noise is coming in around the door seals. I don’t have the cool Pro scoop.

    In my 2017 if the wind was blowing just right the mirrors would whistle, loudly. I was headed to west Texas on a quail hunt one time and both mirrors whistled incessantly for 4 miserable hours straight.

    Very weird. Two weekends ago I towed my utility trailer with my quad from Phoenix to Glamis and back in the same day. Towed like a dream with none of the things you mentioned. Granted it’s not 4000 lbs, but still. Oh yeah, and I was barely at my break in mileage of 500 when I left on the trip.

    Do you have the pro exhaust? The burning off of the coating is a real thing. After installing my exhaust I thought I did something wrong, like a gasket or similar. After the first few drives it went away and hasn’t been back for 15k miles.

    Yeah TRD dual. I’ve never smelled anything out of the ordinary. I’m at 830 miles now.

    mine is the standard SR5 model. It has the single black exhaust tip. I had over 5,000 miles on it before towing, you would think if it had an exhaust coating it would have burned off long ago..

    Damn, I went from a problem free 17’ to a 20’, but haven’t noticed any weird issues yet. TSS has been fine, through multiple snow storms. Good luck on the issues OP.

    With respect to TSS...snow/ice shutting the system down is not a "design issue" it's a physics issue. This happens with every single make/model/system that uses this technology. If enough snow/ice accumulates on the sensors they will not work.

    False positives are also the standard. My 2018 Pilot hated garbage day and beeped/flashed "BRAKE" at me with nearly every garbage can we passed. Our friends Subaru also has issues with false positives. Better to err on the side of caution I guess. We never had a problem with the brakes actually being applied in these situations.

    I don't have TSS on my Tundra. I have an equivalent safety system on my 2017 Nissan Armada. It beeps and flashes annoying warnings when covered in ice and snow, but I have never experienced it applying the brakes incorrectly due to snow and ice accumulation. And I drive in a lot of snow and ice in central New York. I had a Dodge Durango with a similar system that was about the same as the Nissan.

    So I agree that all these systems are susceptible to ice and snow buildup. But I can tell you that I have never experienced the application of brakes due to this. That seems unacceptable to me.

    Have you adjusted the sensitivity down on the PCS? It’s got three settings. Check your weather strips on the doors, run your hand over the full length feeling for breaks or loose spots. A tiny gap there can make quite a racket.

    I agree...to be honest I turn all the nannies off anyway - if you don't then it's constant beeps, wheel tugs and wheel shaking and it's just annoying as hell - I just want to drive my vehicles. I will occasionally use the radar sensing cruise control on open highways without too much traffic but that's about it.

    Our 2019 is almost a year old (will be next month) and it has been virtually trouble-free. No trips to the dealer. One hiccup with the Entune display last July, but that never happened a second time.

    It will be going in for its first oil change as it just passed 5K miles. It's a good truck, but I really miss the 2015 Land Cruiser we traded in, as it was a MUCH better highway vehicle: Quieter, smoother, more comfortable. Oh well....

    Yes, TSS shuts down if the sensor is blocked by anything. Haven't noticed any false positives though. Our TSS is VERY conservative and it stomps the brakes when I don't think it should. Not a real problem.

    I have 8k+ now on my 2020. No out of the ordinary wind noise. But my roof cross bar does create a lot of noise with cross winds.

    Never had any vibration issues on the hood, wheels ord steering. There was a rubber smell from the few first hundred miles and that eas it. But, I had most of the suspension, wheels and tires taken apart and upgraded within 600 odo miles.

    I did have one tss offline issues but did not happen again since. 2 months AP maybe.

    I came from a 2016.

    Just to clarify - in my experience the TSS never applies the brakes when it’s iced over it just shuts down and throws the warning thT it’s not operational. Pretty much every decent snowstorm or ice storm we had this year it was offline. It’s not a huge deal to me either but annoying at times.

    Honestly I think BMW got the safety sensor thing right. I feel like my BMW lets me drive the car and assumes I am. I had the car in front of me warning only once and it has never applied the brakes for me. I rented a Nissan for business and it slammed on my breaks each time I hit a dip in the road.

    I've owned four Tundras...2002, 2006, 2008 and 2020. The 2020 is by far the best yet, although the 2008 (which I still own), is also VERY solid. I have 11,000 miles on my 2020 PRO. The only issue I've had is the vibrating Rigid Fog lights which I fixed myself. I'm really surprised about the wind noise you complain about, as I think it's the quietest of them all. I was in my friends new 2020 Silverado HD last weekend and all I could hear was wind noise! Much louder than my Tundra.

    As for the TSS...I absolutely hate the lane departure warning and that has been shut off never to be turned on again. I do love the adaptive cruise control, however...No issues or false braking for me. I also have come to love the "auto" high beams. The front sensor will shut off when driving in wet heavy snow when it accumulates on it. Doesn't concern me in the least and I expect this to occur. Not using cruise in this type of weather anyway.

    With all that, this is my first "3rd" generation Tundra so I can't compare to a 2014-2019. Absolutely loving mine!!

    At 75,000 miles I still had some good trade value left. They gave me $27,500 trade for the 2017. Once the dealing was done, I got an “upgraded” 2020 truck with nicer interior, the color I wanted, great interest rate, lower payments, warranty and that new car smell.

    I’m not complaining about Tundra in general, I’m complaining about MY tundra.. if someone doesn’t want honest feedback from actual experience then they can simply move along..

    Got it. I have a 2017 and it’s been trouble free to date. I’m going to keep it another 5 or so years and see what the redesign brings.
