    Hey guys.

I'm looking at upgrading to a 2017 Tundra, I'm looking at either an SR5 or Limited (Crew Cab, 4x4).
I'm coming from a 2016 Tacoma TRD off road. I'm kind of hoping to have what my Tacoma has now just in a bigger vehicle with a larger engine (and more interior space).

My question pertains to this... Is there anything I need to be aware of, or I should actively look out for when looking at trucks at the dealership? Anything thing/model to steer clear of or pay attention to before I buy?

Also do SR5s come with leather interior and BSM/Backup assistance? My Tacoma does have the BSM and backup stuff and its pretty useful in my opinion. I'd like to have it in a bigger truck.

    Thanks again guys!

    Great site!

Unless you get ahold of a SR5 with the TSS package (a Gulf States Toyota deal), they don't come with leather. You could have the dealer put Katzkin leather in if you don't wanna make the jump up to a Limited, Platinum or 1794 though. Not sure on the backup assist.

Im in FL, so TSS may be an option. Though I think I've seen a few in the past at dealerships and they all had a price tags greater than the limited versions next to them. Not having leather isn't a super big deal, would be nice though.

I'm thinking all the 2017's have back up cameras now?

If you get an SR5, you have a choice of the SR5 upgrade package. And the tech and convenience package. Those include stuff like the homelink button, driverside electric seat, telescoping wheel, center console, blind spot monitor, cross traffic alert, etc.

The SR5 XSP-X package in this region also comes with leather. If you're wanting those options, more than likely you're going to want to look at Limited trim level and up on the lot. If you're willing to order, you could get the SR5 and packages @joonbug mentioned. I'm not too sure how many dealers will have SR5s with those packages sitting on the lot.

Looks like I want an SR5 upgrade package, but it sounds like they are rare birds?

You'll want an SR5 w/ SR5 upgrade package and Safety and Convenience package. Neither of these packages include leather, so, you'll need to add that. Not really a rare bird, it's just by the time you add these things to a SR5, you getting close to Limited prices, and dealers don't want SR5 prices too close to Limited prices.

My limited came with leather and the BSM. Mine didn't come with spray bed liner and I wish I'd thought of using that as a negotiation tool.

I'm leaning that way more and more, Limited models are a little more than what I wanted to spend on a tundra though. I've I could nab a limited in the lower 40s I'd be happy I think, but they seem to run up to 46-48k depending on dealer.

If you are considering a Limited with BSM/Parking Sonar, it's easily gonna be over 46K.

Got my Limited CM 4x4 with Navi/JBL (NO BSM, park assist, sprayed bed, running board) for 40,665 with the MSRP of 45665).

Sadly I traded it in less than 4 months later....

So if there's wiggle room on those MSRP I imagine I can get a Limited for around the lower 40s then.

My advice would be to use truecar for your search. I wasn't in a hurry when I bought mine and when I signed up for truecar I started getting better offers from dealers. I ended up getting a '16 Limited in the color I wanted-Inferno- with a lot more options for $42k while the sticker was $49k.

I traded a ’16 Taco SR5 in for a ’17 tundra with the SR5 Upgrade. I have no regrets about trading up because the Tundra is better all around. I bought the Tundra in Sept 2016 and paid $44,000 out the door. I’m getting about 14-15 City MPG and 16-17 MPG Highway.

Unless you like to off-road small trails or can't park well, get the Tundra. I don't regret it at all other than I should have gotten it from the start.

I traded a 2016 Tacoma limited for a 2017 tundra limited. I prefer some of the interior styling from the Tacoma ove the Tundra but the power and interior space makes up for it. I did get the tech (whatever package gives you the sunroof and color key bumper with BSM and cross traffic alert)

i picked up a limited last year with a few extras thrown in there such as TRD exhaust & intake for under 45. Stupid though it may sound, the main reason i plucked for the limited was the leather steering wheel over urethane, heated seats and climate control. Call me a lazy git if you wanna but there's something about just never touching your AC controls that i like.

Luckily i have 3 different toyota dealerships within spitting distance so i could play them off against each other... if you're patient and willing to work on a deal, you'll be surprised what you can get
