Thanks. It's made out of Unistrut. It's all bolted together no welds and no holes drilled in my truck. The hardest part was finding the right size gas struts that would fit Within the rails of the Unistrut but still lift the appropriate amount. I still need to reapply a new layer of bedliner. I just have to figure out a better product than what I used last time.

LOL. Our county just passed an ordinance last year that homes are allowed the number of bedrooms +1 vehicles parked outside. I have a 3 bedroom house, so I can have 4 parked in my drive (and 2 in the garage).
Until I get the 4Runner sold and a vehicle I'm baby-sitting sent home, I'm at 3 in the drive + 2 in the garage. Parking is straightforward enough...it's getting my wife's car out of the garage that can be challenging.

Your truck is one of the ones I used to push me to buy mine haha I googled pictures of the set up I wanted, found yours and maybe two others and decided “yep, I would gladly take that” and so my search started.

I’ve been debating on those hoop steps!

Man, that's honestly quite the compliment. Although I can't see why it was mine specifically. Its a total street queen that's sitting on a 2" coil spacer and tires that rub way too much.

If you want the truth, I honestly feel like one of the outsiders here. I wasn't looking for a FGT when I bought the truck. This is my first Toyota and I live in the land of 3/4 and 1 tons. Which is what I was looking for when I told a great friend of mine, who was a salesman at our Toyota lot, to call me if he got any "clean, crew cab full size, 4wd." He called me to look at this truck and I was instantly blown away by how meticulous the last owner was. It had every single service record done, signed and stamped at the Lexus dealer, where the previous owner was the service manager. Even though it wasn't 4wd, I bought it for 10k with a little over 90k on it. I liked it when I walked away but being surrounded by all of these true full size trucks day in and day out, I saw it as a means to an end until I was able to buy something else. I knew nothing about this truck, or Toyota's for that matter, and to be honest, it was kind of an impulse buy.

As with everything in life, situations change and $$ got super tight for 5 years or so. Only thing I ever did was keep up with oil changes and tire rotations. Not once did this truck ever ask for anything more. The biggest annoyance I had was getting 2-3 Takata air bag flyers a month before I finally realized they weren't a scam.

Fast forward a couple career changes and 5 years later, I finally have the $$ to start doing all of the things that I neglected. Which honestly, aren't many. Next to ball joints and timing belts, these trucks are damn near bulletproof regarding maintenance.

Ive got plans for the truck just like everyone else here does but its guys/gals like @Swalters, @KarmaKannon, @Rheywood456, @toyotech2016 and @Casper421 (Im sure Im forgetting a few, sorry) who are to thank. They keep pushing the envelope and keep growing the aftermarket for us.

Ive owned several other vehicles in my time but I can truly say that when I open the garage every morning, I grin just a little when I see it sitting there. Counting my wife, this truck is the second best decision I made in my 20's.

You can tighten your keeper bolts. 10mm. It helps, but won’t make them new. Replace if you want new action.

I like that style of 4runner wheel on your son's maroon stepside. I'm not crazy about them on most 1st gens, but that looks great.

It’s called a door check I believe, I replaced both my rear door checks, my fronts probably need it to. I mainly did the rears because loading and unloading tools got annoying with it trying to bite my leg, and so nothing happens when the kiddo is getting in and out

I figured that by now there would be other options out there besides OEM but that's all I'm finding. Especially seeing as how all four doors on every single DC and Sequoia are having this issue.

I wish. I ended up having to just replace the rears doors but it's an OEM thing and the problem with junkyard finds is that they are just as bad and not worth the discounted price to replace

I’m not sure, they look pretty well sealed, and I think there might be another mechanism or something in there causing friction to hold the door open, but it’s incapsulated

Ok. I’ve never had one disassembled nor seen a picture of an uninstalled one. I’d love to figure a way to refurbish one if possible due to expense.

Sorry, I don't have a write up. It's sitting on the crash bar, so I took off my bumper to mount it. I know a couple others have done a light bar in that area, so maybe they can explain it better.

Only way I can figure to fix one of those is using window weld of something similar. I tried to grind the stop groove even deeper and I think it just broke the inner bushing that the stop shaft slides into. It really sucks getting my kid in and out with a door that constantly closes on me. Cruise control and door checks... How could Toyota get everything else so right?

Your buddy is Darrel waltrip? Lucky! Closest to someone famous I've ever been is dating the daughter of the guy that wrote a sports show theme or one of those famous sports show themes. He did some other stuff too, but I think that's where most his money came from.
