Think I'll just hang on to my '13 until it can't be driven any longer. But I am interested in this offroad geared, lower prices land cruiser.

Salacious rumours aside, the Ford Raptor has a TT V6 so don't turn your nose up just yet. If it wasn't a ford (Found On Road Dead) it would be a sweet truck.

I wouldn't be surprised if they only keep the 5.7L around for a few years. They will see how sales go and then phase it out. That's what they did with the 4.7L when the introduced the 2nd gen Tundra. Most buyers are going to opt for the engine that gets better MPG.

This article is no more "official" than any of the dozens there were already posted here in the past year.

It’s official enough for me. Most of it we already knew. I for one am damn intrigued by the ttV6 hybrid. Yes the Ford ecoboost has had its issues, but Toyota is going to do everything in its power to make that thing reliable. For what I tow, the 3.5 eco blows the doors off my tundra.

 

Now that's a strategy!

 

Chatted with 2 toyota/ lexus dealership owners (one in Canada and one in the PNW), both of them have driven the new tundra in Texas during the last dealer meeting. Twin turbo v6 hybrid is real, towing is amazing and the mileage is best in class. I trust these guys. I for one am excited.

 

And more HP and torque. Unfortunately I think they are going to aluminum body panels.

 

By the time I need a new truck, the Tundra is probably going to be vastly different. So until that time comes, who knows what’s going to be out there, I’ve only got 32K on my 15. So I’ve got at least another 10 to 20 Years before I need something new. I’ll just be watching from the sidelines.

 

I was wondering what the difference between that and a 4Runner would be. Although it's a moot point since I'm sure we won't get this Land Cruiser in Canada either.

This is very far from official. An obscure website sites an unknown source from mobil1? Come on... the internet is flooded with these clickbait articles.

 

Any sense of what the approximate payload capacity would be? Besides fuel economy, this is the one true weakness of the tundra, IMHO...

 

Interesting to see what they'll be doing with the 4th Gen. I think the sky is the limit since sales of the Tundra was pretty bad in 2019 (down almost 6%) and the Tundra was in 7th place, getting beat by the Chevy Colorado...WHAT? Ford sold 908K F-150's while Toyota only sold 118K Tundras. I recently looked over the F-150 options and was blown away....basically there are no options with a Tundra, in comparison, take it or leave it. For fun, I loaded up the F-150 on the website with what I'd like to pull my camper and got to the end...$74,500....yep, THAT'S not going to happen! Come on Toyota, open up your engineers to give customers some options!!
