Pouring rain here tonight bud and the new baby doesn't allow for much after I get home from a day of work. Likely a weekend project

 

Totally understand. I have a 17 month old. Not much freedom these days.

Hey to all the dads running an infant seat. Did I do this right? It's tight and all leveled out. But I ran in the middle seat rather than the door seats
It's slightly pulling up the cushion but as long as it's safe for Mia that's all that matters.

 

Looks right to me. I have a 2 1/2 year old and 16 month old, both girls. They love riding in my Tundra.

 

Looks good. If you remove the carrier, can you put some of your body weight on the base and tighten the straps more? Just a thought in case you didn't do that already. Where's the mirror on the headrest so you can see the baby thru your rear view mirror? Gotta have that. I also don't see a "baby on board" sign. Safety first!

Sucks the tundra doesn't have the anchors for the middle seat so what you did is the only way to do it.

Another thing I did was buy one of those USB lights so there is some light back there for the baby when your traveling at night.

 

Damn that's a good idea my wife used to hop in back with my daughter at night...she used to get a little pissy having to ride in the back of the Tacoma.

 

Oh he's got one of those stupid baby on board stickers!

 

And never put the baby in the seat with a thick coat on, especially when she gets older and sits forward. The belt will seem tight but they'll just fly out in a crash.

 

This. Blankets will become your good friend.

 

And buy a digital ear thermometer. You'll thank me later.

 

Looks good. I do have two product recommendations I found helpful. The Brica seat protectors will allow the infant seat to "grip" the truck seat a bit better than a towel.
Once you move up to the next size bigger car seat, it will also save your seat cushions from compressing the seat foam too much. That way after you remove the car seat you don't have crazy indentations in the seat cushion from the car seat. It also protects the seat from sneakers marks down the road as she gets bigger.

The kick mats do a great job protecting the back of the front seats once she goes forward facing.

Yup, I pretty much have OCD.

 

And if she takes pacifiers, always have a spare hidden somewhere.

 

And when it's time to stop using pacifiers, get scissors and cut up the pacifier in front of her and throw it away. Let's her know it's time. And if she drools, use bibs. Beats changing her shirt 10 times a day. We need a new daddy tips thread!!

 

You will never go back! I put them on my 11 after 7K miles. I refused delivery of my 17 until they were installed.

I had the FD inspect my install in the wife's car. They just showed me to put my on the base to make it much more tighter.

In my day they just trough us in the back of the pick up, loved going over bumps and flying high till you came back down and hit the bed or the pavement! lol

 

The good old days... entire baseball team in the back of a pick up driving on the freeway to a baseball game.

My daughter is still a newborn and I haven't had a chance to put her in my tundra yet. I have been a little concerned over the roof in the double cab behind the passenger seat. Is putting the car seat in the middle a common thing with our trucks?

 

I would check the Tundra owners manual for this. It should explain the best configuration based on which type of car seat is used.

 

Actually this is the not the best place in my opinion. But its up to you and like some have mentioned your local FD should be able to put you in contact with a certified carseat installer that is free of charge. But i attached an article you can read and also read your carseat installation guide. And before tightening put your entire weight on the seat base then tighten.

Neither are interchangeable. The TPMS sensors on the alloys are a different angle, and the lug nuts are different as well.
