What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Nice find! I was gifted a Hi Lift jack recently and kinda wrote it off until i get sliders. But that Lift Mate looks like it would make my jack useful now! I might have to pick on of those up.

 

Yo, did Skid Row end up refunding you for those skids?

 

Yea I sent it back week or so ago, and got my refund from them through paypal. Now im just waiting for the money to go back to my credit card. Skid row was very helpful and refunded the part plus shipping both ways.

By the way, 3 out 4 of their skids fit my truck. The front skid and oil skid fit no problem. The transmission skid was too long but could be modified to fit if you had the time and tools. And the transfer case skid fit but I just needed to drill a couple extra holes in my frame to make it work. So pretty happy im mostly protected now.

Also not to confuse anyone: I have a V6 manual trans first gen. Anyone with a more common V8 Auto should have no problem fitting all of their skids.

 

Yes. So i did one side and a buddy did the other and neither of us knew which setting to put the UCAs on. I got an alignment about 2 months ago and they said I had a broken tie rod and my rack was leaking and something about the alignment being as close as they could get it but i would need to rotate my tires often. I paid em to replace the tie rod and rack. This was the 2nd alignment I got since lifting about 14 months ago. Ive only off roaded the truck once about a year ago.

 

I heard the same thing about "close as they could get" when I got mine aligned the first time. They had no idea how the SPC arms worked even though I gave them the directions. I had to drive back to the shop and show the alignment tech how to change them.

 

Hell it even comes with detailed instructions and pictures.

 

With my going back to work tonight I thought I would gift myself seat covers. Very pleased so far. Feels great, and looks great.

JK, looks good. What brand did you go with? I'm still debating spending $330 on wet okole's with heaters built-in but can't pull the trigger....

 

Did they charge you anything extra?

 

Did my passenger side wheel bearing yesterday and today, I think the dust cover got bent during the press work because now it is grinding against the rotor when I drive it!

Did you have a shop press out the bearing or did you do it?

 

I've done quit a bit over the past couple of days.
Friday, I did the rear AAL and 5100s. Not happy with the noticeable difference in height between the two. Driver side is higher than passenger. The 5100s are nice though.
Saturday was headlight replacement. Changed out the foggy/cracked old ones with the ebay specials. They aren't the best fit. The passenger side has a little bit more gap between the light and grille. The led turns I installed had to have a relay change to work, and now they don't turn on with the running lights.
Yesterday/today I received the XSP skid plate from @BubbaW, who was kind enough to gift it to me. Thank you sir! I had it welded where it was cracked and coated it with rubberized underspray. I am going to get a new set of tires at 5:30, and I'm nervous about rubbing the UCA.

$130-ish with shipping I think. I'm pleased with it. It has cubbies on the front of both seat bottoms and back of the back rests. Feels nice to the touch, and provided slight new truck smell.

The center console, and seat bottom of passenger were probably the hardest.

 

For data tracking purposes which AAL did you go with? I'm our forum anti-AAL jihadists. My ICON didn't do anything but piss me off.

Timed a cold start this morning. This is a typical start up time. Under a second.

 

That's odd. I wonder if it's to compensate for the fuel tank, battery and driver. I've heard of tacoma leaf springs sometimes being that way. Maybe it will settle put in time. In the meantime have you called toytec?

 

The 5100s for my F150 came with boots.

I haven't called Toytec. I'm not sure it's an issue with their product. I think it's just a flatter passenger spring.

 

Yeah. I even turned the key with my left hand so I could operate the phone stop watch with my right which is the supreme money maker of the two. Did two starts. The first was .83 seconds but my quick twitch couldn’t capture the stop button properly.

This truck has the heavy duty starter and a 1.5 year old battery. Didn’t even drive it yesterday and she started quickly as always. With all the maintenance stuff done on her over the past year she seems to be a hair quicker than before.

 

What was the outside temp at starting?
I love a fast start! My 05 taco (only the 2.7 4banger, but not to stick a nose up at either) would start with such little effort, it was amazing. Our 4Runner, pretty much the same thing. My buddy has a 99 taco with the v6 that I would constantly have to double start because I was sooo used to how quick I’d gotten used to Toyota’s starting, his took a good 3.5 seconds. With the new battery in mine, it bucks right over super fast as well

 

With methods like yours you should have no problem going pro!

Also, curious if it's just me since the PO had a remote start installed or if it's all 2006 Tundras and whatnot. I just click my key over from ACC ON to START and let go, and the truck fires the starter till it starts automatically.

 

40° with high humidity this morning.
Was 35° overnight with rain.

She starts at least twice as fast as the other hand model mobile with a new battery.

 

My 06 does this as well

well, it sounds like yours still fires up faster than mine!

 

My 05 SR5 DC does this as well.

 

Started to clean the engine bay. Got it up to temp, drove to the car wash, soaked the top of everything I could see with degreaser, agitated with some brushes then rinsed off (without pressure, just the wand without squeezing the handle).

It's a start. I still see lots of grime down lower and a few heavily-dirty places I'll have to hit again next time. Looks like my power steering fluid reservoir cap is REALLY loose and fluid is spilling out getting all grimy down the hoses. I'm guessing there should be a rubber gasket/seal on the cap, but there's nothing - probably why. I'll need to look into fixing that.

 

They charged me for an extra half hour of labor, but rotated my tires for "free".

Needless to say I wasn't impressed and haven't been back.
