I cannot get the truck's nav screen to mirror my Samsung Galaxy S7 no matter what I do.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Android Auto on my cell phone and I've switched to the OEM Samsung cable to be sure it isn't a cable issue. But when I plug in my phone (using the correct USB port) on the center console, and then choose 'Android Auto' on the nav screen menu, it says to follow the prompts on my cell. When I do that my cell first asks me for permissions (which I give) and then the cell phone immediately closes the app.

But when I launch Android Auto when the cell is NOT connected to the car, it opens at the Pandora screen and allows me to choose Waze or Google Maps and telephone. Cannot get those when connected to the truck.

Has anyone else had this problem and figured it out? I've searched online for solutions, but no luck.

Either Toyota's new software has glitches or your S7 may be too outdated to function properly with your 2020. Anyone else have a more current android phone you can use to eliminate the possibility?

Maybe that's it, but according to the Android Auto website, my phone and its Android software version are compatible. Come to think about it, the dealer offered advice on setting stuff up, which I declined on delivery - maybe I'll take advantage of that now.

Go into the app manager and clear data. I know you uninstalled it and re-installed, but sometimes an uninstall doesn't remove all of the data. You could also clear the cache on your phone. Make sure permissions for notifications for AA are turned on as well.

Do you mean in 'settings'/'apps'? I cannot find any function that allows me to clear data there. I went into 'settings'/'device management' and optimized that claims to clean up the system, but I don't think that's what you meant.

    I'm running Android ver. 8.0.0

    Yes. Settings/apps/Android Auto/storage.

To wipe the entire cache partition of your phone (you won't lose any of your data):

    1. Turn off the device.
    2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key at the same time.
    3. When the phone powers on, the Android System Recovery screen appears approx. 30 seconds later.
    4. Release all of the keys.
    5. Press the Volume down key to highlight "wipe cache partition."
    6. Press the Power key to select.
    7. Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
    8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
    9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Is this the latest version available for your phone? I didn't dig very much, but seems like you're out of software support on that bad boy. I'd try what others have recommended about clearing cache and app data, and if that doesn't work then you may want to look into a more modern phone. I use swappa.com to pick up used phones on the cheap.

Yes, version 8.0.0 is the latest. I'm going to try 19TurdPro's advice to wipe the cache. But, will that also wipe any applications that I have downloaded? And my settings? Thanks for weighing in!

Wiping cache won't affect your apps or data associated with them, it just removes old background data that they hold onto to speed things up. The old data can sometimes interfere with newer features, which is why clearing that sometimes helps.

You need to update that S7 partner! Whether you pay full price on a new S11 now or wait until the end of the year when the S12 comes out and the S11 price drops will depend on how much you want to spend vs how long you want to wait.
