What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Well, got the RAM grab handle mount installed and I don’t like it at all. Just can’t seem to get it to get into a position that is good (hehe). May have to return it all.

I was driving my convertible some years back, center lane with a tractor trailer on my right, SUV on my left. A truck up ahead hit a deer & split it in 1/2. with no where to go I ran over the back 1/2 of the deer. Was doing okay until a bolt grabbed the deer & rolled it under the car - actually lifted the back wheels off the ground. FWD, the car kept going & stayed in the lane. Only damage - deer fur on various bolts under the car. Lucky hit as they go.

 

Turns off the roll-over side curtains, for when you off road at some decent angles.
Prevent side curtain airbags going off thinking you're rolling over.
I've only seen that switch in 1 used 1st gen for sale.

 

I pulled one of my plugs and they are Bosch Iridium plugs that still look really good and clean. Noice!

 

I too drain the oil warm. I leave the fill cap off to improve flow.
I also add a little clean 'rinse' oil once it's down to a slow drip, just to rinse out some dregs caught in bottom of pan. you never use all the oil in the jug anyway (per change).

 

Do ACs have those?

The original boogered mess I started with.


The almost finished product lol. Heat shield is on order. I sacrificed two nuts to break up the remainder of the old nuts. Worked everything loose, and then ran an M8X1.25 die down the shafts. Cleaned up all the surfaces, and installed new 02 sensor. I thought I had a heat shield I had ordered, but couldn't find it.

Hopefully this fixes my p0420 code. It has eluded me for years.

 

Wow, very lucky. I was on a divided highway, and watched a semi hit a buck at 65 mph. Nothing left but a fine red mist, and various small pieces of carcass.

 

So you screwed the sacrificial two nuts down onto the rusted ones to break them up?

 

Yes, I figured I would try this first. If this didn't work I would have needed a new bung welded on. Which means beaucoup monies. I went el cheapo first lol

I was also figuring there wasn't enough of the old nuts to matter. I went back with stainless steel nuts, lock washer, flat washer, and small amount of anti-sieze.

 

LOLJK. The 'bulb' is an LED permanently fixed to the PCB. I cut a small rectangle of aluminum tape and put it on the back of the gauge overlay. Light is effectively out and should remain that way forever.

 

I snapped a bolt on my o2 bung on my 99 taco and the muffler shop only charged me like $50 to weld in a new bung. That included removal of the old one and the new bung itself

 

Ah, well maybe it wouldn't have been as bad as I thought. Anytime I hear "cutting, and welding" my mind immediately goes to high dollar, low quality repair. Lol

I guess the reason for that mental connection is some of the factories around here have welders that make 40-60 dollars an hour. Factory life is basically all I know. Lol

The roll down window is almost better than having a sunroof

 

I just couldn’t get in to sit at a good angle that wasn’t either covered by the steering wheel or coving a big part of the windshield.

I am not a big fan of Selkirk Abbey so I haven’t tried too many of their beers but the Mercy sounds like it’s in my ballpark of flavors/styles so I’ll have to give it a go next time

 

I'm not a big sunroof guy, but my 2005 DC had a sunroof and the roll down back window, between those and all four windows down, it was damn near convertible like. That is the only sunroof I ever miss having on a vehicle.

 

Half of the Time here I get away with venting the sunroof and rolling the back window down halfway.

I probably roll the back window down more than anything else.

Wife surprised me with a high lift jack for my birthday today. I guess all that whining and cussing when I’m trying to jack my truck up paid off

 

Dont you need sliders and steel bumpers to jack the truck up from? Otherwise the jack wont reach the frame to jack up the truck.

 

It’s really hard to find details on these which is probably a sign in itself. I found an image of the packaging that said “Engineered in the USA”. So, yeah probably made in China.

 

She didn’t know that. So now instead of having to persuade her to get sliders, they’re next on my list

During those years, have you had codes that actually pertained to the AF/O2 sensors. The reason I ask is because 420 being a CAT efficiency code, was simply wondering what caused you to choose the downstream ? I am not questioning, just trying to learn all I can because I am dealing with 16 yr old exhaust and just replaced one of the downstreams and awaiting Napa to receive another Denso in. Just don’t make em like they used to, heater circuit went out after 180K
