Decided to start a build thread for the van I'm helping build at work. This one is for the owner of the company I work at. It's going to be a fun project so I figured I'd share it here

It's a 2019 Sprinter 3500 170" with a dually axle in the rear. The main reason we went with the 3500 was the ability to tow the Malibu Boat

This is going to be a multi-purpose build for the Moto, Weekend Camping, and Towing the boat out to the lake. It will have an elevated bed above the bike and some things like a dometic fridge, Maxx air fans, Maxtrax, Baja Designs lights, and a few other goodies.

Ceramic Window Tint will be applied very soon to keep the interior cooler and protect it from the sun. A complete wrap will come as well.
More pics will be posted as we get things moving.

Todays project was an insulated subfloor.

We chose 1/2" insulation and 3/4" marine grade plywood. We also put wood strips in some of the floor grooves to help fill some of the gaps

The plan is to put a hardwood style laminate on top that is waterproof and scratch resistant

It's definitely not going to be a crazy build like some of these people that dump 20-80k into their vans

The plan is to build most of it out ourselves to save money but still make it a very high quality and detailed build

Damn. I don't think I could afford the van, let alone building it out to camp with. :D

Been thinking about building van vs building out a cargo trailer. Excited to follow the build. Thanks for sharing!

Very happy with how the van towed the boat. Much better than the raptor!

We just did a Satin Black Hood Wrap and Tinted the windows on this 2019 Sprinter 2500

What do you think? Should we wrap the hood of our van? We already tinted the side windows at 5% and plan on tinting the windshield at 80% with SunTek ceramic film

The windows look good and I’m sure the windshield will be worth it as well. As far as the hood wrap goes, I actually liked it better how it was. It had a good amount of contrast between the cement-like color and black grille/ black hood vents. It doesn’t look bad though. Are you planning to wrap the whole side of the van with a logo or anything? If so, it may look good with the black hood. Just my 2 cents worth...

We're planning on wrapping the entire van but we're unsure if we'll add anything special to the hood

This was a customers van that sparked some conversation

My brother in law and his girlfriend just joined on as traveling nurses last year. They bought a Ram Van and decked it out inside. They live out of it wherever they travel for work. They’re currently in Bakersfield, CA and are living the life! I’m jealous!

Looking forward to seeing this build progress and complete!

We just started installing the laminate and hope to have it finished this weekend

Another thing we added were the MB trim pieces that go behind the seats for a cleaner fit and finish up front. I'll share some pics this weekend

Same. We're going with a full printed wrap that will include the hood

    No black hood

I was following some full-time RVers who bought a pre-built Merc/something coach, and it led me to find a couple who built theirs out. Those who built could change things they didn't like easier!

I'm certainly a fan of the DIY setup over buying a pre-built sprinter.

Some companies charge crazy money for interior build outs. We'll save a lot by doing it ourselves

    A few updates...

Laminate is in and we started boxing off the wheel wells. The plan is to panel them off with a hinged lid up top so we can store a few items in the cubbies. Our goal was to keep these as low to the floor as possible while clearing the wheel wells.

A Maxx Air Fan was added to the roof as well. This is the deluxe model with manual opening lid and 10 speed fan

Roof insulation and paneling should be installed this week. More pics to come...
