I’m so torn about color. I’m leaning more toward yellow but I feel like for night highway driving the white would be better with OEM LEDS. :monocle:

Same here. I’m on the fence haha. Our spring and summer nights tend to be pretty dry.

but the yellow is def more distinctive looking.

if you want the utmost lumen output, you’ll need to buy selective yellow pros and swap in clear lens.

I think I'll be ok. I'll post up on the dark road with what I find. My biggest concern was the light scatter. These look pretty good on the whites from what I've seen so far. Much better than the generic LED lamps I tossed in on a prayer. LOL.

Jw... did you purchase yellow fogs and buy the clear part or vice versa?

I’m curious if you can tell the difference between the 4K color of the unfiltered yellow vs 6k white when referencing OEM LEDs

I purchased selective yellow pro and swapped in the clear lens.

This is yellow with clear lens at 4000k vs the purchased white light option at 6000k. You’ll most definitely see a difference in color.

The oem leds are around 5700k. So if you’re wanting to match you’ll want to go with the white option out the gate

If you get the white fogs, the 6k leds with an yellow lens will create more of a yellow/greenish color. Video describes the concept.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30lmoW7X-Hw

If you are on the fence about yellow or clear, you would be better off getting the yellow 4k and buying a set of clear lenses for warm white light. If you want to match LED/HID headlights, the white 6k is the ticket.

So I swapped in the clear lens into my yellow SS3 pros. The light is crisp and clean. But honestly, to “my” naked eye, the yellow has just as much output as the light does with the clear lense.... it’s just white on the road. And being there is only a 9% decrease in output with the yellow lens, this is why it’s probably damn near unnoticeable to the naked eye haha. Ultimately, I went back to the yellow. The output is just as good and it certainly gives the truck a more distinctive look, albeit with a far more useable fog light.

2nd to last picture is oem led low beams only.
Last picture is low beams and SS3 Pro fog.

Got my pros, told myself that I will wait for warmer weather to install them, no hurry.

Well..counldn't wait and installed in about 40 min including zip tying and adjusting. Had some buyers remorse thinking the Pro's would be too bright while waiting for them to arrive, however, I think they they will be just right.

I have them aimed low enough where I can still see my led headlights hotspot still. I expected to see all yellow in front but they just fill in and soften the led headlights. They do a great job of illuminating to the sides and I can see in the ditches and sidewalks clearly. I followed another suv, not tailgating, but i didn't paint their rear in yellow which I was concerned about.

40 sounds like a decent temp. Our problem is we get snow everyday until may, no joke :( and I don't have a garage. I can patiently sit on them until the snow melts though

You like the yellow pro's though?

I am happy with the pro's compared to the oem led fogs. They put out plenty of light. These fogs put out as much light as some halogen headlights I had in the past.

After scrubbing the internet of others reviews, I was concerned about glare in traffic. Mainly found reviews on Tacoma and 4runners, which the fogs are mounted higher than the tundras. You can google images of the toyota lineup and see what I am talking about. In my 2017 former tacoma, the oem wide angle fogs would project to the sides at about the height of cars side view mirrors. Since the tundra foglights are only 23" high, should help keep glare chances down.

They do a great job of filling in the dark spots. With the soft yellow light, there is probably less chance of eye strain with so much light.

Looking at the hot spot (at 5 ft) while adjusting didnt seem to blind me, so it should be easier on oncoming traffic.

    Added:

Drove to work with them this morning. I did note that the beam to the sides seamed higher. I confirmed this against a wall when i got to work, my beam has a slant to them, the foglights form a very slight "V" (right and left combined). I measured about a 1"-2" difference from the inside beam to the outside (at about 6 feet). It might be the zip ties forcing the outside higher or maybe I need to reinstall the hold down screw while pushing it down a bit.

Even with the slight slope, the fog lights was only at mid door on cars that I was passing on the interstate. So at this height/aim, it doesn't seem they would be too offensive for daily use. I didn't need the extra light, just wanted to test them out for daily driving.

Being the weird guy staring at their truck in the parking lot. Had fogs and LED DRL on, the DRL seems more harsh on the eyes to me. I would say that I was expecting a more cleaner cutoff line based on photos. The cutoff seems soft and it makes it tough to align at greater distances. Maybe its the nature of yellow light or my eyes?

Your zip ties are messing with the alignment. Mine are as straight across as can be

Damn, now I need to remove the back plates again. Owned the truck for less than 2 months and they have been off 3 times already. Once to fix the fog light rattle, once again to adjust them and finally to install the SS3.

Match the led headlights bottom cutoff with the top of the fog light cutoff?

I think that would blind everyone. I put mine way lower. 491575AB-D2AC-4910-815C-67889D36C5A3.jpgI still have to rotate my left side a little bit but never been flashed and they throw a lot of usable light.

Also if you aim it do the cut off at 5-20 feet is the same on a wall. When your driving the yellow will go higher than oem headlight

I use a scientific method to aim mine.

adjust by hand. Go out in front of the truck on opposite side, get down at lower car driving height and see where it starts to become glaring. Obviously I’m not putting them so high they are blended with the low beams. Now This is real world aiming. Never been flashed and I’ve been doing this forever lol.
