2017 Tundra. I tow alot and am not 100% on the factory 7 way receiver. When I plug into it the fit is pretty sloppy and the cover does a mediocre job of preventing the trailer plug from bouncing out.

    What are other folks experience?

I have a '16 SR5, I tow a bunch of different trailers. When plugging in the trailers, the fit is tight and needs a bit of effort to plug it in, then the cover clamps down and holds it in. Maybe your trailer plug?

Only towed once so far, but the fit was snug and secure. I'd investigate the plug on the trailer, unless it's like that on every trailer you use.

This helps gents. I'll look at replacing the trailer plug after some test fittings with blanks. Nice to know the Tundra is not the problem.

Step one make sure my current bumper towing plug in is correct.
I'm 99% certain Hopkins makes our 3rd gen wiring kit. Look for Hopkins #40974.
This is a direct replacement down to the nubs. The trailer plug does fit a little better now and the door latch matches up nicely.
Y'all got it right, my trailer plug is the main issue however this Hopkins replacement helps.

Put a wrap or two of electrical tape around the plug body so it fits tighter In The socket. Had to do that on my f150 I had before my tundra
