    just a question guys

when i drive 60 - 70 mph the damn wiper of the driver side aint working correctly when raining

its like wind is going under it, up goes oke just not down, i have tryed multiple

wipers and none of them work like it should, i have try to find spoilers for it
but also none of them work with the oem wiper, could it be that the wiper arm spring aint good anymore ?

let me hear your thoughts about it

    thnx all

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
So blades replaced yet the same underlying arm/spring? Perhaps replace the spring?

Trying to understand what you’re talking about. Does the driver side gets stuck in the up position? Or is it just lifting off the glass at speed on the down stroke? If it’s the latter, maybe this spring is all stretched out and time for a new arm.

I’d say your next step should be either trying to replace that spring or the entire arm. Unsure of where you live, but I know in some climates people like to lift their wipers up when they park at night so they don’t get stuck/frozen to the window and ruin the blade. Is it possible this happened with your truck and the spring is just blown out?

Those springs are really stout so I would guess that this would be the only way they would weaken.

Swap the left/right arms to see if that changes the behavior. You'll probably want to swap the blades too as they're different lengths.

My drivers side blade does the same thing, it lifts & skips when wiping down.
This happens at speeds above 40 mph, and it sucks.

It's not the blade, so it is one of 2 or 3 possibilities.

    1. I re-installed the arm incorrectly when I removed it to apply paint.
    2. The spring is worn out.
    3. The arm & spring are worn out.

Before you get too far along, check the arms for a "D" or a "P" molded/cast into them, they may actually be side specific.

I suppose that you'll have to experiment a bit to determine which component is not performing up to standard. Frustrating and time consuming, but sometimes that's what's required.

maybe try a wiper that has a wider footprint with a lip? Might create enough down force to keep the wiper down...Not sure how wide the rain-x latitude is just by looking at pictures but maybe something like that?

It is a warm sunny afternoon here, so I did some investigating.

The portion of the arm with the bolt hole in it appears to be made out of Aluminum, and mine has worn down in a few places, enough that there is play even with the wiper arm nut tight. I placed an order for a new arm 85221-0C020, and hopefully that will solve my problem.

Mine are marked D and P

I installed the new wiper arm this afternoon... the grooves you see in the pictures above are not present on the new arm, the post it's installed on actually cuts the grooves as you tighten the securing nut.

More rain is forecast to begin tomorrow night and stick around until Wednesday night, so I should know if this solved my problem pretty soon.

I suppose one could press an aluminum ring of some kind into the worn out bolt hole and keep it going for another couple 100 thousand miles.

Do a search for wiper arm spoiler. They mount to the arm and use the force of the wind to push the wiper down onto the windshield. Over here I would just search ebay and probably find a ton of Chinese companies that sell them. It could be the same over there. Hopefully the replacements fix the problem but if not a spoiler could be the solution.

I think that you could probably find some plastic clip on ones that should work for a price less than the cost of the electricity that you'd use to try to do any welding.

    Tip:
If you don't ever remove your wiper arm from it's post, you probably won't have this issue. The problem did not start on my truck until after I removed the arm to paint it, and seeing how the new arm installs it makes perfect sense that this would happen.

True, and I no idea how many windshields this truck has gone through.
