Horn and dome lights keep blowing fuse

Recently my horn/ dome lights started only working intermittently one day and it started blowing the 7.5 amp fuse under the hood. Some days it'd last a week some days 1 hour, now it pops immediately. It's only driven on the weekends to pull my boat to the lake, 90,000 miles on the truck, no modifications except trailer brakes 3 years ago, other than that nothing else has been done. In a moment of irrational thinking I put a 25 amp fuse in the slot and it worked for a month but one day I noticed a burning smell from my upper dome lights area. I jumped out and pulled the fuse and haven't touched it since, now the nagging of my wife has forced me to either fix it or trader it in but I'm too cheap to get rid of a great truck for practically no reason. I would check all the wiring to your trailer brakes and make sure it’s not grounding out on something. Also, when it blows the fuse, is it when you’re turning the wheel? Possible spiral cable/clock spring. I’m on a roll today, LOL second time I’ve brought that part up.

 

Sometimes a bad horn will blow fuses. I've had that happen on a Ford. I'm not sure yet what brand are used on Toyotas but they look similar to the ones on a Ford.
