What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Nice. I didn't recognize that trim. I didn't realize the DC trim was so different from the AC and RC trins

 

That's awesome. Throw in some sound deadener or insulation and it'll be perfect

 

My entire rear brakes were rebuilT this fall. My brother is in automotive tech school and he did it for me. All new parking brake components, new wheel cylinders, shoes, etc.

 

Is yours a roll down rear?

Thanks everyone for the tips on changing the O2 sensor. That might of been the easiest sensor replacement i've ever done!

Tacked on the beef cake swing arm bracket, measured and measured for the arm center to the spindle center. Tomorrow I will cope the 2x3” tube with a 2 3/8” hole saw at work on the drill press. I want to pull the entire bumper to finished welding my wing supports and other gussets, then weld the arm to the mounted spindle

 

Damn, I keep seeing so many 1st gens when I'm driving around town that are tastefully modified and yet I never see them on here. I need to start taking pictures of them and keeping a little archive but most of the time I am driving.

 

Seems like the opposite around here. Near every one I see is bone stock.

Most First Gens I see are completely stock, with a camper shell. I live in a city with high elderly population.

 

Were you able to do it with the tools you had or did you have to go rent the one from Advance?

 

That checks out. I rarely see.modded tundras in the wild.

 

I just bought a sensor socket from Auto Zone, it was 10 bucks. all i needed was that socket and a flat head screw driver and it took all of 10 minutes to swap. the hardest part was working your hand in that small area. on the plus side, becuase i have a 3 in lift kit on the front, i didnt even have to jack it up.

I just ordered some new speakers for the back doors. Went with the JBL Stage 602's. They were pretty cheep. Im waiting for my next paycheck to get the front door speakers Not installing till I have all my parts.

 

Has anyone replaced their 1st Gen's fuel filter? I heard Toyota's are "for life" but that doesn't make sense because eventually a filter gets clogged. I have a lot of miles and thought, for $40, it can't hurt MPG.

I think you are thinking of the fuel pump, which is in the fuel tank that is the "for life" part...

 

I really don't think it's going to increase your MPG but I agree you should replace it.

 

I have not done one personally, but have had service shops do them for me while in doing preventative maintenance. My truck is on its 3rd filter with 167k miles. Can’t hurt to replace it.

They are somewhat difficult to replace if you aren’t good with a wrench. Gas leaks out of the lines and on you whilst on your back from readings. Another thing to consider is if your lines are rusted and cause problems. You could quickly get yourself in a bind if things head south.

I believe all NON-VVTI have fuel filter and VVTI engines don't. I know my 06 doesn't.

I replaced one on my 2000 4runner with the 3.4. Super simple, but can't say it really did anything. After 160k I felt it needed it and like you said, it's cheap. Won't hurt your truck unless you don't tighten the lines enough and start dripping gas.

 

Amping on getting these Rack Bushings installed. Been studying Fluid Dynamics and Critical Theory Ratios in prep for the event. Debating on the need to go hang out with JC prior.

Bought some Compound and Wax for next weeks project. Been doing clay bar and polish over the years and finally ran out of polish last time. Accidentally bought the Meguiars Compound as the bottle looks the same as the polish bottle. Did some research to find out this Compound is really better on Metallic Finishes than Polish.

 

Just go easy on that compound. Wax on wax off sensai.

 

I’ll be using Himalayan Gentle Stream Hand Technique with grass fed New Zealand South Island Black Sheep Wool based buffing pads.

 

Never really noticed it since I don’t really drive the Tundra that much. But took it out tonight to pick up some Taco wheels from a buddy, and the backlight on the center panel is hella dim. Anyone knock that out yet?
