I have the Extang 2.0 hardcover tri-fold. It has been on for less than a week and it leaks. I saw the reviews and most people are saying the water is leaking in by the hinges and running inside.

Has anyone figured out a fix for it? Like taking some sealer and sealing on the inside. Using something like gorilla tape....etc.

I dont remove the cover often so I almost feel like taking some sealer and just building it up on the inside of were the hinges are and hope it stops.

I have the same cover, purchased two months ago, and have no leaks at all - dry as a bone back there. When I installed the cover I was very careful with positioning it fore and aft and side to side so that the seals had maximum contact with the front and side tops of the pickup box.

Also, are you sure it's coming in from the seams? Mine are dry as a bone so if yours are leaking that would seem to be a warranty issue or it's really coming in from the sides (see comment above). If you do have a leak from the seams, I'd contact Extang whose customer service with me at least, has been excellent for a couple of replacement parts.

By the way, if the leak is actually through the hinges and you seal the underside of them, whatever water comes in the top will sit in there and corrode the hinge. That may not be a happy outcome over time.

Try calling their customer service department.

I am going to try and re-install it and really take my time. I am not exactly sure where it is leaking, but it is in 4 places and its a lot of water. Once it stops raining I will start to investigate.

I had a solid fold and like you, it leaked a lot. Seemed to leak from the hinges. It’s ridiculous that you spend that kind of money on a cover and in my opinion is junk. I remedied it by getting rid of the solid fold and getting a Diamondback. It’s the only cover I will ever buy now.

I just bought the same extang cover and my bed is dry as a bone. I lined it up and tightened it down evenly, no issues.
I think you going back and reinstall will fix your issue. But if not call extang!

No, mine leaks like a sieve. If I had the money right now I'd trash it and get a different brand. Think it's a crap tonneau cover.

Reed -- Just curious - did readjusting your tonneau fix the leaking problem you were having? In the past few days I've washed my truck and rinsed with a garden hose (nozzle pressure) directly onto the tonneau, and then left it outside in heavy rain that went on for many hours. Not a sign of water under the cover. How did you make out?

I bought the Extang 2.0 and it came new with bubbles on top of two of the panels. Called Extang and they sent a 2nd cover which developed a bubble on the first day of 80 degree sun. Called Extang again, they sent a 3rd cover and so far no bubbles but I’m not holding my breath. It leaks a little at the back corners of the tailgate but it’s minor after adjusting it several times. The quality is not there for the price. I will say that Extang customer service has been a lot better than the cover. I’m only 2 months into a new cover that’s junk. I’m sure the battle is not over.
