I believe there was someone running it with a red 2004 that did a long travel kit in the builds section.

    Might start there.

@Darkness wants one of these or something similar. Not sure if he has bought one yet, or its still on his wish list?

@Professional Hand Model yes I'm gonna get it, I would have already got it but had some personal things come up. Now that the personal stuff is clearing and finances are back in order I will be getting it around April. I already have shocks that will fit on it by chance, so for me that's $300 to get 11 inches of travel, more if I sell the shocks I have and upgrade later.

I will have to rethink my exhaust. I've eyeballed it and might be able to get away with clocking it so the bend over the axle clears the shock, if not I'll have no choice but turn out ahead of the rear tire. I'll likely buy a new Spintech when I do and push it right up to the y-pipe.

If you mean @MRKSe7en build, he didnt use this kit. He has a one-off fab job running shocks outside the frame, which I've always wished I could do but didnt see room for it. Similar concept but different execution. This kit looks stronger at the top.

You’re right. I looked back through my post history and it was actually an @Archive post from when he first designed this kit.

Room is the name of the game. If you can fit a shock outside the frame that's better, but without wheel spacers and then fiberglass or cutting/pulling the bedsides, yadda yadda. I'm still planning outside the frame with my shocks. Not sure how it's all going to fit though.

Yup, even with some 1.5" wheel spacers and generous wheel backspacing it would be a tight fit once you articulate. One tire stuffed and the other dropped out, I don't know how feasible it would be.

My springs can pull 12 inches easily so Archive is on point for my needs.

Shot Eric @Archive a message yesterday. Looks like he’s got some Hammer Hangers in the works for us 1st Gen Tundra owners. Have a few local buddies Rockin’ the Hammer Hangers on their Tacos, with great feedback. Definitely staying tuned.

I keep hearing this "Hammer Hanger" term. What exactly does it do? Is it just a shackle flip kit?

From what I can gather with limited first hand experience with them, is that they are basically a beefed up, more durable rear leaf shackle hanger with options.

I’ll look more into it tonight, interested in the differences between the replacement hangers and a traditional shackle flip.

I can see the benefit of the beefed up construction. This pic is from my buddy Gary’s Taco last year after wheeling at Moonlight Park in Missouri.

In this video Eric @Archive goes through the features and benefits in detail about his hangers for the 05-Current Tacoma application. My best guess is the features will likely similar if not the same for his Tundra version.

Seems like a beefy upgraded hanger. I really like the cross bar option between the two hangers which looks like it would box out and strengthen that rear frame. I’d be game on this system since I’m still on stock worn hangers and springs.

Just hope I don’t turn purple in three years waiting on these to come out.

Me too. My best guess is that it shouldn’t be too far along. He’s got some work put in on the Tundra Hammer Hangers.

Sneak peek at a incomplete prototype in progress courtesy of Eric. Hopefully it’ll go into production quick.

Deal killer on the crossbar is spare tire needs relocated (at least on the Taco). I like my spare right where it is. Low center of gravity and out of the way.

    Keep us posted.

Roger that, will do. Was thinking about that as well. I believe someone on the TW side of the house is fabbing up an alternative tube to accommodate the spare. Will do some digging.

@Professional Hand Model something like this I believe.
