    Hi all,

I'm currently looking at a 2008 Limited with all the bells and whistles. My problem is the truck has high miles. Has a full service history. I test drove it and it seems solid. No rust, no leaks, the coolant jug was low. Everything works. Interior needs a little TLC. My question to you all is this, what should I look for with high miles on these trucks. As in really high miles. I am a mechanic by trade so depending on reliability and type of issues I may be able to tackle most myself.
    Thanks in advance.

    John

    Welcome from So Cal!

You're going to have to give us your definition of "really high miles" to get a solid opinion.

250k the only reason I'm even considering a vehicle this high miles is
    1. Toyota
    2. Full service records
    3. Test drove and did not notice a single problem
I'm pretty thorough now since my last vehicle the trans crapped out after 3 weeks then I found out the particular vehicle is known for trans going out.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.

If the price is Good enough, I like wholesale prices, then go for it.

The price seems high, they want 10696 for it what do you guys think? Could I talk them down some more? Like I said interior needs some TLC mainly the drivers seat and some trim panels.

Check under the bedliner if it has one. It could have rust you wont see very easily from underneath.

I actually did that, it seemed rather clean. My main concern is the price of it's worth it or not and how reliable and strong the engine and trans are 200k or more.

That's what I was thinking, realistically do you think I could talk them down?

You being a mechanic you know the basics
    Aip
    Water pump
Rear wheel bearings ( they are a real bitch on these trucks)
Price doesn’t seem outrageous for this area if the frame is in good shape but always try to do better

I'm used to wheel bearings being a real bitch I work on Subarus slot haha, I guess I'll try to talk the dealer down since the frame is solid and fairly clean it was a well taken care of farm truck

You should talk them down. What area is it in and what engine does it have, 4.7 or 5.7?
