I am new to the forum and I recently purchased a new 17 Tundra crewmax limited. I had a 2.5" Rough Country leveling kit installed but the dealer is having problems getting the wheels I want to fit right. I decided on the 20x9 XD 825 Bucks, but what offset and backspacing do I need and also what size tire do you recommend. I want to run a toyo open country a/t2. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check out custom offsets dot com. You can search by wheel size for tundras and it shows what the size tire and backpacking you need without rubbing.

It just gives me a list of wheels and sizes. Doesn't say if it will rub or not.

I'm pretty sure 33s are as big as you can go. Will have to do a little plastic trimming in the back of the well because of rubbing at full lock.

285/65/20 which is roughly a 34.5" tire will fit with some rubbing at full lock. And what is hitting causing the trouble with the wheels fitting?

The wheels the first ordered had 285/55/20 on them and was rubbing hard on the front and the back. These are barely bigger than stock though.

I'm not 100% sure but, I think you want an offset in the +18 to + 25 range. You'll need to remove your mud flaps, trim the skid plate and move the front liner forward a bit. At least this is what I did to run a 34.5" tire. All very easy stuff to do.

Also, the truck sits about 3/8" higher in the front now. It needs a 1" in the rear or so. I'm having trouble finding one to order, any suggestions?

If you just got it done, the front will settle down some after driving it a bit.

That is good to know. The truck just has 350 miles on it, so I'll give it some time to settle. I appreciate all the advice. This is my first tundra, I was always a Ford man before but the wife and I both are Toyota now.

Yeah, put some miles on it. I'm almost certain it'll settle down the 3/8 of an inch to be level. Maybe even be a touch lower in the front.

What size of tires should I run with the xd 20x9 with +35 backspacing and the 2 1/2" leveling kit?

You could probably get 285/65 under there without modification. Anything bigger and I think you'd probably have to do some trimming and stuff.

I looked these up on the KMC site and I don't see a +35 offset for a 2017 tundra. I do see a +18, +25 and +30. I've read here quite a few times that +25 falls in the "sweet spot" for our trucks. Myself, I'd order either the +18 or the +25. Just my 2 cents worth.

They put 285/55 on it now and they barely clear with out rubbing but they look really small. The place put a 2.5" leveling kit on it when I asked for a 2". Of course they didn't remembering me saying that. If I raise the rear up I'm afraid the tires will look even worse. If I put a 2" on the front do you think it would give it a better over all look with those tires.

That puts you at about 32.4". If it clears at 2", I would go 2" over having to raise the rear.

Or if they will swap your tires, and you're willing to trim a little, you can put a 1" shackle or block on the rear and just get bigger tires. Ride might suffer a bit but it'll look much better.
