Does anyone think I would have an issue fitting a 33" spare tire under the truck? Tire size is 255/80/17, so it's actually a little bit narrower than stock, but a larger overall diameter.

My assumption is that it would fit fine, but I figure one of you fine folks will have actual experience with a similar (or larger) diameter tire!

    Shouldn't be a problem

I have a 32.8” (285/75/r16) spare which just barely fits. Survey says....

    Its doable!

Is the fit issue due to width of your tire (285) or overall diameter?

I have no issue because it does indeed fit, but if it was bigger/rounder (in diameter) I’d think it would become a problem. The tire width doesn’t factor in on this being a potential problem I don’t think.

Gotcha. It doesn't seem like all that many people are running this specific tire size, so I suppose I'll just get them all mounted and hope the spare fits!

I think you’ll be fine if its 33” as you say. Drop your existing spare and do any rust prevent or lubing the cable/bracket before the tire goons do your work. You could measure while under there just to be safe.

    I just put a 255\80R17 up there a couple weeks ago...no problem.

Awesome, thanks! Doesn't seem like it's a super common tire size to run, how have you been liking it?

    I have a 275/70R 18 for a spare, and it barely fits.

So far so good....since I changed the whole suspension it's hard to say how the tires specifically feel...I can say they have done great in the snow and rain we've had here recently....Falken Wildpeak AT3s e-rated.

Yeah, same exact tire as what I ordered. I'm also doing 6112 / 5160 / SPC UCA / poly steering bushing at the same time as tires, so I'm imaging it will feel pretty much completely different. I really just didn't want something that was crazy wide (285, etc) but would still be larger in diameter than stock.

My 315 70 17 (34.5" if I recall) fits no problem. Just hangs down a bit more than I'd like. Then again my exhaust hasn't been past my rear axle since I purchased the truck. Maybe someone would have issues fitting a tailpipe or whatever, but mine went right in place of the factory sized spare.

Same setup I just went with with the exception of Freedom Offroad UCAs. It will feel no nothing like stock...that I can attest to...not really better or worse, just more like an old-school truck, less like a car. :)

I forgot to mention I had to remove the two brackets that point towards the ground to get it in there. I just ground the head of the rivets off and hit them with a punch and DONE! I only took me 20 minutes once I had the tools under the truck and I laid down. I figured it would be longer but the grinder was key

I should have read this first. I spent about an hour today trying to drill the damn rivets out. Ended up busting my drill bit.

After that I tried to use a cut off wheel on my dremel and went through 3 cut off discs. I eventually gave up and will fight the battle another day...

Get a 1/2 titanium drill bit, progressively drill up till you get to the 1/2 bit and it will grab the collar of the rivet and you can punch the other end out. I did this and was able to use one hole to secure the brackets. Make sure you use wd40 in between drilling or you break the bits.
