So Archive doesn't actually make the springs, they just design them? Is that right? They look very nice. I like that they are meant to hold some serious weight. It looks like they have phased out their other design, the "overland" leaf pack. Shackleton must be named after the famous Arctic explorer.

Serious leafs right there. Solidly build with the military wrap.

What does one do about the lean that may happen per the manufacturers instructions?

    What type shackles you planning?

I’d run the hammer hangers they sell. It’s supposed to be better than the shackle flip and give you more overall travel ( mainly droop travel) plus I’ve heard it smooths out any ride even on stock springs due to the rigidity of the hangars compared to the play in factory hangers.
As far as lean they say to adjust front coil overs (if you have adjustable to help level the rear).

I've been looking at these just not sure I'd have enough weight to justify. Contemplating these or just ordering directly through Deaver. Definitely feel that new leaf springs will be needed as my truck was used to haul loads and has almost 300k. Would love to see some feedback from someone else first...who's going to be the guinea pig?

I have a set of deavers coming in for an extra 500lbs in the rear. I will test them with stock hangers then I’ll go from there and possibly order these hammer hangers from archive.

Definitely curious about your feedback. I also need to get my OME suspension installed and see what the actual lift will be in the front as that will play a part into what I go with.

If these are built for carrying 1,000 lbs I'm guessing the ride would be fairly harsh if the bed is empty?

Do they make hammer hangers for Tundras? I've only seen them for Tacos and that won't work.

I’m waiting for some feedback from members who recently installed General Springs Leafs. You can get an OE set for like $230 for Access Cabs with bushings pressed. I’ve heard good things prior. Someone here just put in a HD (heavy duty) set which costs a bit more.

Having a hard time justifying $800 for another brand when General Springs at $230 plus another $200ish if HD will work.

Not really apples to apples comparison. These are designed for a specific purpose. Since you're not into overlanding I would go with General or OEM.

@lsaami do you like your general springs so far?

So far, so good. They rusted VERY quickly however. like, within weeks. I'd recommend anyone getting them, paint or powder coat them before install.

Yeah. It’s the Tacoma one first option. I emailed the owner.
EDIT. Oops. That was a different part.
He said these are coming in March -April for our tundras!

Curious how that would fit. Tacoma leaf springs are under the frame but first gen are outside the frame. Doesn't seem like it would line up to me but would be cool to find out.

Definitely much harsher and tighter. I don't notice so much anymore, but it a was a substantial difference at the time.

To be clear, I got the standard springs, not the HD springs.

The Deaver springs seem to rust easily also. Rheywood posted this last spring after only being on his truck 7 months(1 KC winter)

You'd have to be diligent about keeping them sprayed with something.

My suggestion on these springs (if brand new or old/rusted) is to soak/coat them in Ospho and then paint them.

I'll be sure to update. Hoping the shipping happens on schedule, though it might be a hot minute before I get around to installing them.

I saw on your instagram page that you were able to get these installed. Care to give us a review, including how much weight you carry in the back. I reached out to Eric at Archive this morning and this was his response to my questions.

"I am working on a mild revision, and ordering another batch very soon. The first batch shipped in April, people are in progress of installing. I find the ride is too firm unloaded but not jarring on my '00 AC. I have an ARE alum contractor Topper which is pretty light ~80lbs, and a Line-X spray in bed liner as my base weight, don't even run around with a spare. Lift is a lot, like 3" unloaded
Hammer hangers do help the ride as well. The next revision may slightly lower lift
You may need longer rear shocks, Good lengths would be 14"-15" max compressed/24-25" extended"

I really appreciate the R&D that Archive has been doing on first gen trucks. Nobody else would do such on a 20 year old model with relatively low market.

Once this scary Covid crap is over I'm getting that shock kit to support them.

I was looking to go with these but was concerned they were a bit too heavy duty with too much lift for my needs....but he did nave a note in there about removing one of the leafs to lower height and carrying capacity by 15%...but he took that note out.....hmmmm....guess I'll keep watching for now...

I told him that I appreciated that as well. Eric has a 00 Tundra so I'm sure that helped motivate him.

That's my concern as well but I'm hoping to get some real world reviews before ruling them out. I know that currently my truck can't handle more than 300-400lbs before the ass end starts to horribly sag. I also suspect these may not ride any rougher than my currently shot leaf packs. Hopefully @Trailscape can let us know.

My concern as well UNTIL I just built my drawer system. Not even done and I think 500lbs won't be hard to hit with gear. I reached out to him 2 days ago to see the next available as i will definitely purchase these

I haven’t been able to put any real miles on these yet, but I can say they so far do what they promise.

I removed my air bags and 1.5” blocks in the process. Ride height still increased by an inch, so I’m seeing 2.5” lift over all. Ride is much improved. It soaks up the pot holes a lot better and feels way more planted to the ground.

I have a lot of crap in the truck, but not everything is carry with me on a trip. Fridge and battery are always in the back, but I’m also betting my shell has grown pretty hefty in weight.

Edit: Also, an extra ~200lbs in the bed drops the height roughly 3/4".
